So this season Real decided to broadcast the live feeds using flash. Flash and iPods, iPads and iPhones don't play nice with each other and Real has no current solution. I had heard about a possible work around but had never been able to test it myself until today. One of my kids got an iPod Touch yesterday and Scott re-mentioned the software - I tried it out and withing five minutes I was watching the live feeds. If you have an phone with Google Android operating system, check out this tutorial from WeLoveBigBrother.
First off you have to have a subscription to the Big Brother Live Feeds, there is no getting around this. However you get a free three day trial so what have you got to lose? Sign up and try this out. Click here for a free three day trial.
The app you need is called Cloud Browse and what it does is allow you to use a remote server to watch the flash content. The software is free and you must be at least 17 to download and use it - I assume this is because of the potential content - there is noting in the App itself that is bad. Click here to get the app.
Once you have the App installed and you have signed up for your free three day trial of the live feeds, simply go to http://superpass.real.com/ and sign in. Then the feeds should open up or you can click to go to the live feeds. Once it would open I switched to the low bandwidth option which helps a bit. The image will be a bit jerky - but it is better that nothing right?
Since you are using a remote server you may lose your connection at times and have to re-log in. The interface is also a bit of a pain since you have to remotely control a tiny pointer - but I made it work pretty easily. I'm not saying it is perfect - but if you need your Live Feed fix it is an option - and its a free option if you already have the feeds!
Additional notes after a few other people have messaged me on twitter:
- Cloud Browse has a liminted number of connections and so at times it fills up and you get a message about the maximum # of anonymous users.
- To avoid this you can sign up for the 'premium beta' here: Cloud Browse Premium Account - it is currently $5.99 a month. I have NO affiliation with the program so I am not trying to get you to pay for something other than the feeds!
