No More B.S.!

I've been thinking about writing this post for a few days now, but have not wanted to fan the flames.

I can't hold back any longer, though.

As I've stated many times on this blog and our podcast, I've enjoyed this season more than any of the last handful. This was mainly because there weren't any returning players to temper and handicap the play of the new contestants. With the exception of one stunt casting, and a twist designed to protect her, everybody started the season on an even keel.

Yes, there have been a ton of questionable comments and actions. Yes, some people have acted inappropriately. Yes, people have made disastrous moves. That's what happens when you have a cast of reality show virgins! You get drama! Isn't that what has been missing in previous years? People should be rejoicing!

They're not. In fact, I've never seen a season where the fanbase has taken the show so seriously. I'm not just talking about the cat ladies who want rules tweaked, bent and broken to ensure their favorite makes it untouched to the end. I'm not talking about the usual double standards for behavior, or the demand that the rest of the house do nothing but what furthers their hero.

It's getting much scarier than that, and it needs to stop.

There are sites out there created by people that clearly have too much time on their hands. These sites include private information of not only those in the house but their families and friends. When one brain surgeon tweeted a family phone number earlier this week, they were inundated with harrassing phone calls for the rest of the day.

Seriously, you cretins, get a fucking life.

You can love and hate anybody you want. You can think this person is trash, or that person is a beautiful angel. That's part of the fun of the show.

When they're out of the house, you can then throw whatever verbal jabs you want. I've admittedly had my fun with certain people over the years. No matter their sins, though, the families don't deserve this. Their parents shouldn't have to take down their business websites or disconnect their phones. You are NOT their judge and jury.

You, not those in the house, are ruining this season. If the show doesn't return next summer, I hope you all look at yourselves in the mirror. It won't be because of the ratings or the various live feed controversies. It will because you busy bodies are giving the producers and lawyers such a headache it won't be worth the risk of putting on the air. Will you be happy then? Either that or it will be a house full of Helen's organizing knitting parties. We definitely don't need that!

You would think people would have enough sense to leave family members alone but apparently that's not the case. The house guests are all adults and fully aware cameras run 24/7. Family members aren't playing the game and have no control as to how their relatives behave, it's that simple. Posting personal info is harmful and causing enormous stress to those affected.

Some of the crazy fans become the very thing they complain about. They need to stop harassing family, chill out or either stop watching. They're ruining it for the rest of us.

Thanks for addressing this extremely serious problem.

EXBBfan: If you are an ex-BB fan, why are you here?
August 27, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterBeth
Well, here we go. You have to remember a lot of paperwork has been signed. Producers and lawyers are not sweating one bit. It's all about the advertising dollars. Believe it or not, more companies have jumped on the train wreck than off this year. So expect BB to continue for years to come.

I disagree, this season didn't have much drama at all compared to seasons before, This season has not been very entertaining in the slightest, there have hardly been any great alliances, its just been the majority of the house, and no one going against the house, its like everyone is walking on eggshells in there, I feel as if the moving company had lasted a lot longer, and McCrae would have still kept the secret about the alliance from Amanda, the house would have been in Turmoil, and the votes would be close, but instead its "Anyone who speaks against amanda goes home in a unanimous vote. Previous season were very drama filled with many secret alliances, (ex. Dr. Will and Boogy, The Grenades) And season 8 with Evel Dick was great, there was constant arguing, and no one was safe. But this is just my two cents, as a long time Big Brother fan, (I haveb been watching since season 2)

GregKass & others, a ratings winner does not mean it will stay around. All it takes is one or two executives that DON'T like the show, or perhaps feel it reflects badly on CBS. Mix in Julie Chen perhaps getting tired of answering for ignorant HG behavior or plain being tired of the grind after 15 seasons (Don't forget she is part of a fairly successful daytime show now) and the could be it for Big Brother.

Thanks to everyone commenting and be SURE to follow Scott at

Scott, Finley - thank you for articulating so very well the sentiments that I cannot fit in a 140 character tweet or even less space in the CBS feeds chatrooms (yikes!). You've both hit the nail on the head.

Gratefully yours,

Thanks for your remarks, well stated!!! I agree with your comments. Unfortunately, this is happening on social media in so many arenas. A sad sad commentary.

I wish people would finally learn to live and let live.

This is a TV show meant for entertainment. If you don't like it - don't watch.

What amazes me is that many of the people talking about the horrid remarks made in the house, turn around and make comments just as disgusting or even worse promote violence!! Look in the mirror people!!

I am enjoying the show immensely just as I have every season since the 1st. :)
Hopefully, we can all continue to watch for years to come.

I think it's going to get to the point that the housemates true identity will be changed to protect their innocent families. It's a game people.

How is it just a game when personal jabs & threats have been taken (GM bulimia, Amanda's pregnancy, Elissa's son, threatening to gang rape and slit someone's throat) that is crossing the line of just 'being a game' I thought contestants went through psychological testing before doing reality shows since that one guy from that VH1 show killed his girlfriend & himself. Not to mention the fact that se of these players are being heavily medicated. I fear how some of them will deal with the HUGE backlash when they get out of the BB bubble. This season was far from fun to watch its been basically the whole house in one big alliance I.e. voting unanimously it's just a big huge teak wreck and all for CBS ratings smh

Haha, okay. This post is silly. When somebody choses to go on a nationally broadcasted 24/7 live feed, they should be prepared for people to witness everything that they do or say and to prey on it. As adults, we should all be able to edit ourselves in particular situations. I have no sympathy for Amanda. She constantly bullies, makes death threats, intimidates others in a threatening way. It is HER fault her parents had to delete their twitters. I find it fully that anybody can pull the morality card for racist, homophobics and bullies. THEY are ruining the season and I hope the fans keep fighting against them. The casting director deserves to be fired and the awful HGs to be reprimanded in real life so they can hopefully change their disgusting ways.

Maybe what CBS needs to do, is make this show a late night show, when all the youngin's are in bed, so their parents don't have to worry about them seeing/hearing inappropriate things. There are worse things being shown on tv everyday. Let's discuss Teen Mom's or even Toddlers & Tiaras. What are those kind of shows teaching the kids?

While I don't personally approve of some of the things said, I do not think any of the threats were serious, and if the 'victim' truly felt scared, BB would do something. There have been many times when I'd wish someone dead, but doesn't mean I'm going to go kill them. Doesn't even mean I truly want them dead. Words hurt, yes, and out in the real world people need to stand up for themselves. But in this game, you have to expect to hear hurtful words. (Not saying it's right, but it happens when you are fighting for $ or popularity.) This isn't the "Who can be the nicest" game, and while some winners have been on the nice side, most have been the 'Evils' of the house. Big Brother isn't on PBS. It's not going to be all sunshine and roses. That's what keeps the viewers watching.. the fighting, the backstabbing, the lying.

Fans taking it out of the house is wrong. If you, a so called fan, threatens a players friend or family (who are NOT in the house playing the game,) then you are worse then the ones threatening a player who IS playing the game. They are not the one's who made the decision to be on tv & be criticized for anything and everything. Though the player does need to take this into consideration and try to refrain from bringing them into the game by constantly talking about their personal life outside the house.

Omg I love this article. And I'm allowed to have an opinion here! Not so at jokers website, it's so Elissa biased and they never post anything bad about her, they remove it right away if you do. But you'll see all these disgusting and really mean things about every other girl in the house. They're bullying the people who they think are bullies. It's too much and I would really like the updates without your effing opinion. Sit back and what the damn show, if ya don't like it, stop watching and stop bitching and ruining the show for everyone.
August 27, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterLaine
If this season is the last it was one too many. The families do not deserve to be crucified for the HG's actions, but the HG's need to be held accountable for theirs. And the actions of certain HG's have gone far beyond what the "game" was intended to be and what the loyal fans want. To allow it to continue to deplorable. If CBS wanted to save this series and end the outside world drama they would remove the guilty parties and continue on with the show. It has only gotten this far because CBS has pushed for it.
August 27, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterJaime
Psh, whatever. This poster obviously doesn't follow the feeds or they would know it goes beyond being just a game when death threats, rape wishes and nonstop bullying occurs. So Amanda can attack family members but fans can't? Get outta here, you're absurd.
August 27, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterAdrian
Wow.. I totally Agree with you Scott. I don't like the racist remarks, but as far as "bullying" I haven't really seen any of that. I've seen Amanda "talk shit" but nothing more. Fans don't think that calling family members and threatening them isn't a type of "bullying"? I would so be mad if the show got cancelled because of "crazy fans". This is the only show that I do not miss. I love the show but I sure would not let it rule, control or make my life. For those of you that do seriously need to seek mental help. This is a GAME for our entertainment, if you don't like what you see or hear on the live feeds then quit watching them and just watch what they air on t.v. that's edited and you want have to see all the other shit or what some of you call "bullying". If you don't like what a blogger has to say then quit following them, if you don't like what other fans have to say about HG's then block them. Some people just amaze me. I agree with Scott it will be the "FANS" that cause the show to be canceled because of their ignorance and stupidity not the HG"s. Js. Scott I like to read what you post keep up the good work

As the "invisible" girlfriend, thank you for posting this.
August 27, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterMarilyn
Uh I think you need to look at yourself in the mirror. You're defending bullies and racists who threaten and wish death and rape upon others. Do you honestly expect for any moral person to not be outraged? I find it questionable that you can honestly compare those outraged by bigotry to the bigots. It is NOT a big deal that fans are responding like this. Those HGs lost their jobs for a REASON. These behaviours (the racism, child porn jokes, death threats, homophobia, bullying) would not fly in a job situation. It would not fly on the set of a television show either. Why should it fly on a live feed? Get off your high horse and look at the real issue here. If it doesn't come back it's because CBS doesn't know where to draw the line. Don't kid yourself.

I don't want to stop watching BB...I love the Live Feeds. I agree that no family should be threatened or harrassed because of the actions of the houseguests. What I don't like (and don't care who agrees or disagrees) is the racial slurs and threats made to houseguests by another houseguest. I'm fairly certain Candice and Howard did not realize they would be subjected to racism when they "signed up for the show"...Elissa (the one you insinuate is protected) did not sign up to have herself or her family threatened with violence and death by another houseguest. Your opinion is the fans are ruining the opinion is Amanda is ruining the show. Seems to me like you are condoning the behavior of Amanda while shaming fans for defending her. I do agree... Someone has too much time on their hands, do you have a mirror at your house?
August 27, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterPam
Your article posted your own opinion. This is my opinion. YES !! cancel the show next year...if I want to watch pornographic crap I would buy a video...If I wanted to listen to bleep bleep bleep...I certainly would not put on BBAD...and your use of a foul word just deminishes you credibility.
August 27, 2013 | Unregistered Commenterjust rediculous
Yeah I get that people should not go after people period in a harmful manner. That's uncalled for and all those who are harassing any of the contestants and their families in a violent way should receive punishment. However these people raised the likes of Amanda, Aaryan, GM and so on and as I know growing up what I do reflects on my parents. I ALWAYS keep that in mind. This is not some bitching back and forth, catty comments, drama of boys, space issues etc... This is vile racists (they are at the top of the despicable), disgusting beings we're dealing with here. That is real to many people in this world. When you go THERE you threw "its all a game" out the window and you were raised that way. The bullying and talking about one's CHILD is just emotional abuse!! THAT needs to not be allowed. Only difference now is Twitter. Are somethings overblown? FOR SURE. I still think as DUMB as it was and Crude as it is to think that Spencer "joke" on Mccrae about Child porn was a vile "joke" that got blown up more then it intentions. Everything else I see people upset about (and I really haven't followed that closely in the past 2 weeks) have been right on. BUT I DON'T CONDONE going after people families or even these vile contestants in a harassing manner esp. violently. But no standing up against bullying ,racism etc... should be applauded not condemn ... Because "we want entertainment".

Amen!!!!. It is getting way out of control with the fans ruining this season. I personally like amanda. Do I think she has acted inappropriatly at times and said things she shouldn't have of coarse she has. But no one can honestly say if they were being filmed 24 hours a day that you wouldn't say or do something that would be offensive to soneone out there. I've watched every season of big brother and there have always been someone who says something or does something that someone in th is world will take offense to. And honestly do people really think amanda would kill some one thats just fucking stupid. And elissa may not say rascist comments but she is more judgemental than anyone in that house. She talks down to everyone acts better than everyone and she's getting special treatment her shit stinks just like everyone else!!!!!!. This needa to stop I'm a huge big brother fan I look forward to it every summer.please please stop all the hate so we can all enjoy bb for many more years!!!!
August 27, 2013 | Unregistered Commentersaux
To those filling up the comments with Amanda rants, I don't get it. You have every right to not like her...or anybody else. I have never in my years of writing here said that everybody should like or hate any individual person. I just state my personal feelings, and I didn't even do that in this post.

Then again, some of these people claim I don't watch the feeds because I supposedly don't mirror their opinions. Ok then.
August 27, 2013 | Registered CommenterScott
We need to speak up against hateful obsessed fans who cross the line.

Helen's family received threats and some insane person emailed death threats with racist hateful pictures of Helen being shot to death to her husband. The horrible pictures originated from a racist troll named ArtMaggot here:

Look at post #565

It is truly disgusting and disturbing how these trolls can use death as a joke and go further by threatening their family.
August 27, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterMissy
Yeah I couldn't agree more.. Families are so totally foul to bring in.. and Amanda took the first swing. Now she is every chance she gets saying "I didn't take my meds.. that's why" and while I don't doubt it she has to live with the consequences of her disgusting behavior. Yet it should be ONLY her and not her family who is just as innocent as Elissa's family.

Just keep in mind what subhuman piece of trash opened this door.
