No More B.S.!

I've been thinking about writing this post for a few days now, but have not wanted to fan the flames.

I can't hold back any longer, though.

As I've stated many times on this blog and our podcast, I've enjoyed this season more than any of the last handful. This was mainly because there weren't any returning players to temper and handicap the play of the new contestants. With the exception of one stunt casting, and a twist designed to protect her, everybody started the season on an even keel.

Yes, there have been a ton of questionable comments and actions. Yes, some people have acted inappropriately. Yes, people have made disastrous moves. That's what happens when you have a cast of reality show virgins! You get drama! Isn't that what has been missing in previous years? People should be rejoicing!

They're not. In fact, I've never seen a season where the fanbase has taken the show so seriously. I'm not just talking about the cat ladies who want rules tweaked, bent and broken to ensure their favorite makes it untouched to the end. I'm not talking about the usual double standards for behavior, or the demand that the rest of the house do nothing but what furthers their hero.

It's getting much scarier than that, and it needs to stop.

There are sites out there created by people that clearly have too much time on their hands. These sites include private information of not only those in the house but their families and friends. When one brain surgeon tweeted a family phone number earlier this week, they were inundated with harrassing phone calls for the rest of the day.

Seriously, you cretins, get a fucking life.

You can love and hate anybody you want. You can think this person is trash, or that person is a beautiful angel. That's part of the fun of the show.

When they're out of the house, you can then throw whatever verbal jabs you want. I've admittedly had my fun with certain people over the years. No matter their sins, though, the families don't deserve this. Their parents shouldn't have to take down their business websites or disconnect their phones. You are NOT their judge and jury.

You, not those in the house, are ruining this season. If the show doesn't return next summer, I hope you all look at yourselves in the mirror. It won't be because of the ratings or the various live feed controversies. It will because you busy bodies are giving the producers and lawyers such a headache it won't be worth the risk of putting on the air. Will you be happy then? Either that or it will be a house full of Helen's organizing knitting parties. We definitely don't need that!

lol michelle, I have to laugh at the end of your comment. Trust me when I tell you that this website doesn't make enough money to cover its own costs and it pretty much IS dormant from October to June every year.

Denny - if you don't know all that has gone on since the 'racist' stuff early on, its a bit late now to try to explain. sorry!

I agree!! Making threats to them or their families, makes you just as bad as you think they are. Voice your opinion to the show on feedback or in the chat rooms, but please refrain from making threats to the families. Again, the backlash that they are going to get after they leave the house when this is over, will surely give them the message!!!

There are so many comments I need Ash to summarize them all into some kind of overnight blog post.

I agree having repeat house guests is super lame. But this season has had some of the most disgusting vile outrageous behavior of most of the cast members.

What your forgetting is some of the behavior is criminal.

The fact that CBS refuses to reprimand/remove contestants living in a controlled environment leave many viewers feeling helpless and frustrated. They say this is the reason family members of house guests are being threatened and the feeds are being taken over by appalled viewers.

This was the biggest cast ever. It wouldn't have hurt the game to sacrifice a bad sheep for the good of the game. Had CBS removed the first house guest for racist behavior, the cast would have chalked it up as a lesson learned and the focus of this season would not have been on RACISM and house guests continually seeing how far they can go.

The game would have continued and AMERICA would not be engaging in the show for shock value and instead would be watching the show for the entertainment of the game like previous seasons.

I hope they do cancel the show. If this season is going to be followed up with more seasons of cast members equally disgusting as this cast, I'm not interested in watching the shoe, buying the feeds or spending money with advertisers that support the show in the future. HUGE FAIL CBS. HUGE!

It's really hard to believe that we've gotten to the point where, "Don't harass a person because their family member chose to go on a reality show" is a controversial position. People are c-r-a-z-y...

Thanks for posting I doubt it will do any good but at least someone has tried. People need to get a life if you don't like what you see than turn it off. Those that are taking up petitions , starting FB pages, Harassing families are worse and crazier than any of the house guess this year IMO

I couldn't agree with you more. I will never understand why people feel the need to take a show, that's supposed to be fun and entertaining and turn it into a nightmare. I can't even stand to go to the live feed chats anymore because the "children" in their only want to talk about the hygiene of the HG's, and not about the game. Not to say that a comment or two hasn't been deserved (Spencer constantly keeping his finger in his nose or McCrae never seeming to bathe) But good Lord, is that all there is to talk about? And attacking the HG's families is really unbelievable! Some folks shouldn't be allowed to even watch TV. This season has been very entertaining with Amanda's shenanigans, Judd's likeness to Boomhauer and Rachel's little sister being there, not to mention the racist comments that have been made, which have given us all plenty of late night discussions about right and wrong. Amanda has brought some much needed entertainment to Big Brother and I for one, am thoroughly enjoy it. I couldn't understand why America wanted to vote Amanda to go home 2 weeks in a row. I have a feeling that the show would have gotten really boring had that happened. Honestly, I think the reason people loved ED so much and not Amanda, is because there is a double standard when it comes to men and women's behavior. People seem to feel that when men behave the way ED did, its ok and makes him a badass. When it's a woman, the bad behavior makes her a bitch and unlikeable. It's not fair really and I hope Amanda takes her game all the way to the end!

@indy mike

lol at you thinking I thought you made money off of this site. I don't. But you all have squarely placed yourselves in a particular corner.

You are a funny dude though.

Oh MS. KATRINA don't get all defensive just because I called you out, (anonymously might I add) You are jacking up a rumor you know NOTHING about. Step Off and get a life "sweetie"

Quote: There are plenty of people who aren't on medications that connect to mental stability that could be cast. Why cast someone with known problems in this sort of experiment?

Michelle, what kind of people do you think actually sign up for a reality TV show? Every day "normal" people or those "on medications"?
August 27, 2013 | Unregistered Commenterkat
Yes, Marylin, however we are talking about 3 and 4 year old children locked in a basement not drivers on a road. My point is CBS has the power to help children not to ignore the danger.
August 27, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterTara
posting again with a suggestion nothing else,
better screening oh potential cast, psych screening
a new improved rule book backing up psychical threats and racism with penalty noms.
show the world American BB is the best. America is the best.
August 27, 2013 | Unregistered Commenterjackie
Maria is exactly right.

Kat: I would hope that it wouldn't be people who are 28 and still on meds for ADHD. There can't be hat many and all of them can't have applied. Seriously, don't you think that there are more Americans not on mind altering medications than those who are?
August 27, 2013 | Unregistered Commentermichelle
I so agree! I have watched this show from season 1 and have loved it forever! This season is fantastic! I so hope true idiots out there do not end it for us!

Michelle, what "corner" have we placed ourselves?
August 27, 2013 | Registered CommenterScott
Oh my, you certainly opened up a can of worms, didn't you. Big Brother is my favorite program and I hope it continues next year. It has been very entertaining this season. But, I take it with a grain of salt and a week after the winner is crowned, I will have forgotten most of the cast members. We need to live and let is just a game.

Everyone has made good points, so here is my two cents worth. I agree, families should be left out of it. Too bad Amanda doesn't believe in that, thus inviting what's been said about her. Her threats weren't real? Sounded real to me. Her actions aren't what they seem? Looked pretty convincing to me. Aaryn and GM's comments taken out of concept? Sounded pretty offensive and sickening to me. THIS is the stuff lawsuits are made of. Perhaps, if CBS had taken immediate action against these guests, the fans would not have gone overboard. This does not excuse their actions to the families. Stopping abuse, racism and bullying starts with one brave soul standing up and saying "NO MORE" This should have come from CBS as the "parents" of the HG's. Now it seems, the kids (fans) are taking over, and along with Amanda, Aaryn and GM, these kids do not fight fair.
Once again, just my two cents worth.
PS - calling in the FBI works both ways. Amanda's threats of rape and slicing are all over the internet. If she wins, she may very well need the money to pay off her lawyers.

Being ok with what was done to Candice.

I'm not going to go on a diatribe here, but I completely agree with this blog and as a huge obsessive fan just want to say..STOP trying to screw up my favorite show! I don't want to see a bunch of Helens & Elissas next summer. I love the drama, the reality of BB, and entertaining HGs. So, STOP THAT.
August 27, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterSrtx3
I just have to throw this out there. I think that too many of you BB "fans" are focusing too much on the recent media stories of bullying and racism in America. Yes, it's a problem, but this is a reality TV show. Racism and bullying happen every day, in every state, in every city of America. It's not just on BB. This has been an ongoing problem for years! But with so much media hype as of late everyone is jumping on the band wagon. Why not harp on the adoption rate (Candice)...the southern stereotypes (Judd and Aaryn)...inner city education (GM)...seriously though, if you don't like the show, don't watch it!
August 27, 2013 | Unregistered Commenterkat
Everyone needs to remember where the idea for BB came from--the Stanford University Prison Experiment 1971.

They took average college students (who had volunteered and gone through extensive psychological testing) and randomly divided them into guards and prisoners to see how people behaved when given power over others. Read about it on Stanford's Website.

They had to stop the experiment early because the guards got out of control both physically and psychologically.

This season has become the Stanford Experiment all over again. Yes BB is a game but do you really think Howard or Candice signed up to play a game that they would never be allowed to play because of their race? Do you think Jessie signed up to play a game where they would sit around and talk about how they'd like to slit her throat so she couldn't scream as she was ganged raped? If that were posted on a social media site the person/persons would be investigated.

Have we not learned that people behave as you allow them to behave? CBS/BB needed to step in earlier and when they didn't they were encouraging the ugliness to continue and grow.

If BB comes back for another season we can only hope they have learned from this season. New rules are needed regarding racism. Sitting around fantasizing about killing or raping another HG should be banned. And casting should worry less about how cute someone is and care more about how mentally stable a person is. This is a high stress game and this season is full of HGs on controlled substance medication--was that not a big RED FLAG!

Bring in a cross section of demographics from different parts of the country who are not medicated or racist. Let's play Big Brother not the Stanford Prison Experiment.
