The Big Brother 16 season premiere airs Wednesday, June 25, 2014 ... which means that #BB16 house guests will head to Los Angeles, do video interviews, attend photo shoots, start their isolation from the rest of the world, and move into the Big Brother house ... all about six weeks from now.
At this point in early May, do any applicants know that they've been selected? Probably not. The on-line submission deadline had been extended from April 4 to April 25, and open casting calls have taken place as recently as this past Friday (May 2, in Cincinnati). Even so, producers by now have likely culled thousands of applicants into hundreds of potential finalists.
It's possible, though, that some applicants already know they are finalists even if they haven't yet received airplane tickets to LAX for mid-June. CBS had posted that finalists were to spend up to eight days in Los Angeles for second-round vetting beginning either April 17 or May 16. And they must sign confidentiality agreements -- so don't expect these hopefuls to talk about it unless they want to risk being booted out before they really move in.
Here's something which was news to me this week (as a Big Brother newbie who started watching the show several weeks into last season) but probably isn't news to you: For #BB15, McCrae was reportedly a last-minute replacement in the cast. (So said TV Guide, RealityRadar, and BBG's own Scott in this post.)
So, potential house guests, are your bags packed? Better keep 'em ready at least through mid-June. The cast's move-in takes place several days in advance of that June 25 episode.
