Big Brother Season 16, Episode 8 Recap

Last night’s episode ended with a bit of a cliffhanger. What appeared to be a semi-normal veto ceremony became tense when Brittany announced she had something to say.

Tonight we find out what was said as we witnessed a screaming match while the voice-over promoting tonight’s show was heard. Apparently, Zach became heated, and even goofy Pow had a few words. Hmmm, can’t wait to hear this!

Let’s not waste any time here. We get a bit of an intro from Julie, and the long recap, and we’re off! We see Brit say she wants to say something, and Zach responds that he’ll be next. Brit wants to explain what she said Pow, “who I thought was my friend”. She says that she knew how Pow was acting around her that she was going to through the veto comp. She didn’t wear her glasses in the competition, for example. Pow then responds that “we all know how (Devin) is. Thank you, but you’re not a good person. I would rather throw my head in a toilet bowl and drown rather than stay with you for another week.” She admits that Devin asked her to throw the comp, but she claims she didn’t.

Devin finally speaks up, and says that she did throw it. They go back and forth on this a bit, and Donny says in the diary room “I’m loving every minute of this veto ceremony. I’m so glad I have a front row seat.” Devin then takes over the conversation, and this sets off Pow. “Your daughter is going to look at this and laugh at you!” Pow, Pow!

Finally, Zach has had enough and pops up. “Fine. My turn.” He says in the diary room it’s time for him to play dirty. “Frankie, don’t feel threatened.” He tells Pow that she sucks at everything, which she agrees with. He tells Devin “there’s not an ounce of truth in your body.” He says there is no chance that he’s going home, as every person on the one side of the couch will vote for him. He’s not so sure about the other couch. “Frankie, I don’t really know, but I hope you vote for me. Caleb, I’m not so sure either.” He adds that he’s going after Devin, as should everybody else in the house. Finally, he asks for a response from Devin, who just says “best of luck to you”.

Devin heads upstairs, acting like he really doesn’t care because he really believes he’s “the biggest target”. Cody says he is also pissed at Devin for putting up one of the bomb Squad members. Amber, though, thinks that Zach may have to go home. Frankie hugs Zach, but asks him why he was “put on blast like that”.

Caleb is now sitting alone in the yellow room, pissed that Zach just threw the bomb squad under the bus. He uses some of his phony beast mode bullshit in his explanation, but I’m not going to use that crap.

Frankie and Zach head into the have-not room. Frankie is “super-pissed”, but Zach is smiling. He tells Frankie that he didn’t mean anything by it, but Frankie isn’t buying it. “Nothing’s changed”, says Zach, but he knows he took it too far. Frankie is still pissed that Zach “ruined my game.”

Now a bunch of people are outside, and Zach and Pow start arguing. Amber walks away, but the two keep going back and forth. Pow still claims that she didn’t throw the competition, but Zach is now starting to piss off Derrick.

Caleb and Devin are upstairs attempting to count, and Devin has it figured out that they have the votes to bounce Zach. This raises a query, though. Who should they replace him with? The bomb Squad HAS to have a full eight members. It’s time to draft Hayden, and he’s brought into the HOH. Devin outs the whole Bomb Squad lineup, and says they all trust him enough to be a part of their team. Hayden pretends to be happy about it, and agrees to it. Or does he? “My number one goal is to blow up the Bomb Squad”, he says in the diary room.

After a commercial break, Zach is now sitting with Derrick, who is giving him advice to just lay low about going after Devin. He just can’t act like that again. This seems to sink in with Zach.

Now we have a Team America meeting, and for some reason they think their forced alliance is a real alliance, and that they should vote as one. NOOOOO!!!! It’s for silly tasks, you dummies! Frankie somehow believes that Devin and Caleb are better allies than Zach. You turncoat! Thankfully, Donny is there to talk some sense to silly Frankie.

Derrick now has a chat with Caleb. Derrick says it’s better to “play it safe” early in the game, but Caleb believes that they can still use Pow to do things for them. Derrick counters that Zach’s desire to get out Devin actually makes the two of them safe. Suddenly, Caleb is thinking it may be better to keep Zach.

Derrick then goes to report to Frankie about Caleb’s decision. Frankie wants to be the one to inform Devin about the house’s decision, though, and runs right up there. Devin is shocked, and says that he’s now out of the alliance. “This is a solo game for me from here on out.” Wait, what? This mess is all your doing! You brought everybody in! Oh yeah, he threw in his daughter a couple of times in this chat, and fake cried in the diary room. You’re a dope, Devin.

Ok, it is now time for the final pleas. First, Julie asks Jacosta to describe the veto ceremony. She has no answer other than “crazy”, while Frankie says it was “insanity”. Devin was asked to rate his reign of HOH, and he says it was a 4 ½.

Pow gives the first plea, and babbles nonsense about being positive. Devin has “five different personalities and they all suck.” She goes on to claim that Zach is just as bad at comps as she is because he is yet to win one. Um, ok then. Julie finally has to shut her up.

It’s Zach’s turn, and he gives shout outs to his family. He says that he loves everybody, but it’s in “the best interest of the house to keep me. None of you are my target. My target is that man right there. If you guys vote to keep me safe, I’ll do everything in my power to make sure he is evicted from this house.”

Voting then begins with Jocasta, who votes to evict Zach. Brittany votes to evict Pow, as does Derrick. Donny, though, votes to evict Zach. With the score tied, it’s time for commercials.

When we return, Caleb votes to evict Pow, as does Amber, Hayden, Cody, Frankie, Nicole, Christine, and Victoria. Pow Pow is evicted, 10-2!

The results are read to the house, and she calmly hugs everybody as she walks out. After that awkward moment while we wait for her picture to go black, Julie asks who Pow blames for her eviction. “Devin. His game sucked, and he made a lot of deals with everybody.” Julie counters with her deal to throw the comp. “Honestly, I have no idea.” Yep, that’s honesty. She’s then asked who she is rooting for, and she answers Donny and Jocasta.

Thankfully, this segment is cut short, and we go right to the goodbye messages. Zach calls her a “huge liar who lies to get out of lies”. Ha! Jocasta tells her that she loves her, and “to stay close to God”. Devin apologizes, and claims he wanted to help her as much as he could. Donny tells her how much he loved her. “You have been the best friend in the house. I’ll never forget you.”

Julie asks about their relationship, and she replies how impossible it seemed for her to be best friends with a 42 year-old man. “How can you not love Donny?”

Ok, it’s now super serious time. Tonight’s HOH competition is the most important of the season so far. Yes, I know. This is only the third one, but it could determine who wins the battle of wits between Devin and Zach. The competition is called “Underwater Polo”, and they must hit a polo ball down the ramp into numbered slots. The two highest scores are the new HOH’s.

Amber is up first, and lands a 17. Cody also ends up with a 17, while Caleb nubs it down to a 21. Frankie’s ball lands in the 24 spot to take over first place. Christine ends up with a four, while Nicole nabs a 29, the highest possible score! Victoria hits the twelve spot, while Brittany gets 16. It’s now Zach’s turn, and he blows it with a 8! Donny’s score is 20, while Hayden ends up in the 17 spot. Jocasta hits a 22, while Derrick slams in a 28! Nicole and Derrick are the new HOH’s!

Before we head to the final commercial break, Julie announces that everybody is now wearing Fitbit’s, and “it’s bound to affect the game”. Interesting!

Well, that’s it for tonight! What did you think of the big veto ceremony fight? Or Pow’s eviction? Or Derrick and Nicole’s HOH wins? Leave some comments for us!

When I saw that the cast got the fitbitch bands on the feeds I started laughing because you guys just talked about fitbitch on your podcast. Normally I don't care for any of the shows gimmicks like Team America, America's favorite player, Pandora's box etc. But, I'm actually really liking this fitbitch interaction. I don't know why, Maybe because it brings an interesting element to game. I think its fun for the viewers to try to beat the houseguest's status and I'm curious to see how it impacts the game.

I have a very strong feeling that A producer that works on the big brother show got that idea from your the podcast. (Since you talked about Fitbitch on the latest episodes.)

Perhaps, if you do some more ranting about how the CBS shows are being edited on the podcast, it just might sink into one of the producers mind and help make the edited shows better. But...that could be wishing for to much.
