The Night Owl and A Hail Mary Pass

Dear friends.  In my many many years of watching Big Brother I have often heard the term "Hail Mary Pass" thrown around in various strategy talks including this season.  Not being a sports minded girl at all myself, I have never had a clear definition of what a Hail Mary Pass actually is.  So I looked it up.

In the simplest terms I could find it described, A Hail Mary Pass is a very long pass made in extreme desperation with very little chance of success, usually made at or near the middle point.

My friends, what I need now in the very middle of this BB season is a Hail Mary Pass.  I am lighting my candles, crossing my fingers and toes, and telling myself "it could totally happen".

For those of you that don't know what I am talking about, my favorite player this year (Wil) has once again been put up on the block. This time however he is the target.  Not more than 24 hours ago the entire house were still walking around talking about how they all wanted Joe out and how it would be an easy week. Well...as things tend to happen in BB, this all changed up not very long after Janelle's eviction.  Frank mentioned on several occasions that he wanted to get rid of Dan and that backdooring him or even just straight putting him up would be good.  Boogie however had other plans and Mr "I'm so anti coach play your own game" in the beginning himself is so stuck up Boogie's ass he can probably taste the last thing the man swallowed.  Frank immediately nixed his plans for Dan as soon as Boogie said no.

Shortly after this they decided to talk about Joe and Wil and who they should put up and should it be a pawn from their own alliance against Joe just to throw people off etc..  But somewhere in there Britney opened her big fat mouth and said "Ya'll Wil is really smart. He has already figured out that we are all working together"...and that was all it took! Boogie's wheels were started to turn. How DARE someone notice that all 8 people NOT in the same bed in the Boom Boom room pretty much live in the HOH no matter which one of them actually holds the title?! They are just too smart to keep and something must be done.

Frank was not entirely sold on the idea until they had Wil up to talk to them.  Boogie told him to leverage the shit out of Wil. Make him feel guilty about the lie (the one that everyone else told too? remember that lie?). Talk about how you defended him against Willie. Make him feel like shit. Just make sure that you find out who his targets are and make sure it's not us and that he makes us a deal and then we might consider keeping him.  So that's exactly what Frank did. Oh..excuse me..that's what Boogie did FOR Frank.  You see, when Wil decided to come up and have his HOH talk he was looking at Frank..it was LIKE he was talking to Frank, but there was no Frank home. Boogie was doing all the talking.

I don't know whether Wil had just had enough of hearing about the lie or enough in general or if he just wasn't willing to do the ass kissing it was going to require to possibly save himself, but he just wasn't having it.  He told Boogie and Frank that he wasn't promising anything to anyone and they should just wait and see what happens after the veto. *slaps forehead*  While I completely understand not wanting to kiss Frank's big smelly ass or Boogie's STD encrusted one, I feel like things would have gone much smoother if he had.  Sigh...alas...that's not how it happened and so now we have entered desperation mode.  Boogie and Frank have made known to everyone but Wil, Jenn, and Ashley that they want Wil out. They even made a deal with Joe for him to just be quiet this week and they would get rid of Wil. It's veto or nothing kids.

Later after the have not comp there was short conversation between Wil and Britney in the have not room where Wil basically told her that he didn't know if she felt comfortable saying who she was or wasn't working with or what she did or didn't know but that he felt like he and Ashley were just floating around with nobody and that they needed someone to work with and that Frank and Boogie would eventually have to go.  Surprisingly, Britney was very candid with him.  She spoke with him about how Danielle is definitely controlled by Dan and how Frank and Boogie have to go.  Now most of me believes that Britney was just opening her mouth and there were no cheezits around so stuff came out of it instead of going in.  However...there is a teeny tiny little piece or hope in me that thinks that maybe the fact that Britney actually likes Wil as a person and the fact that she knows that she wants some of those strong guys out and that she can't work with Joe has her wheels turning just a LITTLE bit about how she might be able to help the vote along.  I mean if she got Shane or Ian either one and then Jenn and Ashley voted Joe out..that's a wrap kids. I'm not counting on it though. Something tells me Britney just doesn't have the balls or the intelligence to pull it off.

Onward to the happenings of the overnight.  I fired up the feeds after the nomination ceremony was complete.  Wil and Joe were of course nominated and Wil, Joe, Jenn, and Britney were all hanging out in the kitchen cooking and cutting up while the rest of the house was locked away in the HOH room playing poker.

Not a whole lot happened for a very long time.  There was a super awkward "family" dinner situation where Joe made the have not food and Jenn and Wil had chicken. No one said much except chit chat about their workout plans and then everyone kind of wandered off into their separate corners.  For a while Boogie, Jenn, Joe, Shane, Dan, and even Ian did various weight workouts while Wil ran for a while. Britney and Frank chit chatted with Ashley inside about various things like pet peeves etc..

Cut to a while later Ashley and Wil have a discussion in the Boom Boom room about veto and what would be the best scenario.  Wil tells Ashley he really doesn't want to use it even if he winse it if there is any chance that Frank would put her up and out.  Ashley tells him he can't think that way and that while it would be best if she won veto and took him off, if he wins it he has to take himself off regardless of what happens to her. While this conversation was happening Boogie kept sneaking by and trying to listen to what was being said and then a little while later he slipped off to the arcade room to talk to Frank.

Boogie tells Frank that he had a discussion with Wil in the storage room and that he didn't like what he heard. He said that Wil is fake and he is just a liar and that they can work with Joe for themselves  (WHAT?!) and he confirms that Wil must go and they have to keep it really really low that they are working with Joe.  I have to admit...this conversation sickened me.  Remember how earlier I said that Frank was using the whole "I defended you against Willie and the homophobic slurs  and you still were going to vote against me" thing to try and pressure Wil to kiss his ass?  Well before I had continuously wondered if Frank was aware of how fake he sounded when he says this stuff over and over since we all know his "defense" of Wil was just to make himself look good and had nothing to do with Wil in general, and while I think many many things about Willie...I'm not sure homophobic is what I would call what he did.  Anyway...during this conversation, I think Frank answered that question for me. Frank and Boogie were cracking up and making jokes and hand gestures and saying all SORTS of really malicious mean things regarding Wil and it just kind of shows you in general what kind of people they are at their root.  I mean I understand game play and getting out your biggest threats, but I never really think there is a need to be that malicious....esepcially not in light of a person's sexuality, looks, mannerisms or anything else that is just inherently or otherwise them. *steps off soap box*

After this Britney and Shane went to bed in the have not room and had a small chat where they discussed the fact that they need to bring someone else in with them to help them get out Frank and Boogie. They didn't get into specifics they just hinted here and there. Britney also told Shane that she has been trying to help get Danielle off of him by telling her flat out that if there is something real it can certainly wait a month and that she needs to back off. Shane thanked her for it and said Danielle was driving him crazy.

The feeds cut for a while and when they returned Wil and Danielle were having a heart to heart over tea.  Wil explained to her what he really does..meaning what he really HAS done and how successful he was before being on the show. Danielle did not confess to being an LPN, but she told Wil about her pageant life.  There was some discussion of Ashley's health issues and I found this a bit humorous since Wil seemed to know a lot more about it than Danielle being that his Dad is a surgeon and mom is a nurse. Anyway..eventually the talk turned to a little bit of game. Wil told Danielle that he wants the veto but he doesn't want to screw Ashley over by taking himself off the block.  They talked a while about Janelle of course and Danielle did her whole "am I fat?" thing, but surprisingly she did pep talk Wil a little telling him "don't you dare throw in the towel. It would break my heart to see you give up".  The unfortunate thing about this conversation is that while Danielle seems super sincere and like she is leaning towards keeping Wil, we all know that if Dan says no that will be the end of it.

The house guests seem to be winding down now and so am I, so back to my Hail Mary Pass...  I need one. In all my years of watching Big Brother I rarely get attached to a character on the show, but Wil has won me over. It's surprising to me because I truly hate this season. The coaches twist turned vet twist drives me insane and outside of Ashley, Jenn, and Wil I just don't like anyone.  As the overnight feed watcher/blogger/tweeter, I will surely die a long long bored death if Wil gets evicted...so I need all you guys to cross your fingers and toes too. That guy just HAS to conquer this veto comp.  Until tomorrow night's podcast...I bit you all goodnight!

Nominations are in. Have Nots too.

Frank has put up Joe and Wil.  I think Frank and Boogie are actually looking to get Wil out.

Before the nominations the Have Not competition was held and some details are a bit fuzzy but I do know that Shane, Danielle, Joe and Britney are have nots.  It seems like it was a repeated competition - involving moving liquid from small pools to bottles by soaking the liquid up and then squeezing it back out.  Britney commented on the costumes resembling lemons.

The Have Nots also get Candy Canes and Cod to eat this weak.  I hate the food thing, its just a stupid excuse to 'involve' America.

Joe really ticked off Britney and Danielle by yelling at them during the competition.  One reason I feel Franks and Boogie want to get Wil out is they discussed telling Joe to tone it down so as not to put such a huge target on himself.

One other note - Ashley has been in a ton of pain all day and has received more cortizone injections in her right hip area.  She's had difficulty walking today and didn't participate in the have not competition.  She's had issues since the first week.  Some really desperate fans hoped Janelle would come in and Ashley would go home - sorry guys - Janelle is already home according to a tweet tonight.

The Night Owl

Well, here we go again... Janelle is gone and Frank is HOH.

The night starts out very depressing and continued that way for some time. Britney was depressed about not winning and about Janelle leaving. I think Danielle was depressed that no one will be running to her for power this week.  Shane is depressed most likely because he is confused about where he will be able to hide from Danielle this week, and Wil and Ashley have finally realized that the rest of the house is most likely working together to get them gone. There was a lot of sitting in silence and agreeing that everyone hates Thursdays.

Finally it was time for the HOH reveal. Everyone came upstairs and looked at Frank's second basket for a while. Afteer everyone had looked at the food and pictures, Ashley and Wil were the first to exit to go  downstairs and chat.  The two of them realize that aside from Jenn they really don't have anyone else at this point and that everyone was trying to knock them out of getting HOH from the very beginning.  They also think it's very likely that Wil is going up as a pawn again and if Joe wins POV he will go home.  They are correct to worry. There is a good chance that will happen.. (sigh).   Wil also tells Ashely that he believes that all the coaches absolutely knew they would likely come in the game and that he believes that all of them hit the button but then just blamed it on Dan.  This kid is no dummy..he just HAS to start winning shit! PLEASE if you make it through this week, START WINNING!!

Meanwhile as the numbers dwindled down in the HOH Frank, Boogie, and Dan began a discussion about who to put up next to Joe.  Dan of course immediately says "Well it should be Wil right? And if Joe wins HOH just send Wil home?"  Boogie and Frank are feeling a bit more crafty though.  They are definitely considering this possibility, but they are also thinking..hey why don't we put up Shane next to him and let Shane play for veto and if he wins it put up Britney.  They tell Dan this will keep their alliance a secret.  In reality I think they are probably considering the idea of backdooring Dan or Britney, or even sending Shane home.  If they are smart they will think that way. I mean really, who wants to waste their HOH on Joe? He is annoying and all, but a threat he is not.

Also while this is going on upstairs, downstairs Danielle and Britney are having a bed whisper session. Britney is still on an anti-Wil tangent and is hoping that he goes up next to Joe and that maybe he will go home.  I really don't know what her problem is here. I think her wandering eye is affecting her brain again.  I was also extremely turned off by the pity party she had for herself about not getting HOH pictures and a letter considering the fact that she has had two letters already and the HOH room all but one week so far this season.  Time for y ou to go live downstairs and find your cheezits elsewhere, sweetie.

After a bit more talking and turning around all possibilities, Dan flat out said he did not want to be a pawn and so while Dan is in the room, Boogie and Frank come to the decision that they will try to get Shane to volunteer to be a pawn, but if he won't do it, they will put up Wil and tell him it's because they want to work with him but they are still trying to gain trust from him after the lie about the blindside the other week.  I don't see Wil being stupid enough to buy it....I mean...was it not Janelle, Dan, and Danielle doing the SAME thing and encouraging the lie in the first place?   Whatever, I see this being the direction they most likely go in.  I of course am not happy about this, but I feel like the players I like (team tits) have a better chance at sticking around with Frank in HOH than if someone like Britney had won.

While all this HOH discussion is going on, down at the hottub Joe tries to make nice with Wil.  The two of them explain reasons why they don't trust each other.  Joe explained that he was just sure that Wil was the one who had gone up to the HOH the night before the veto ceremony and convinced Danielle to put up Janelle. Jenn reminded Joe that Wil went to sleep around 6 in the afternoon that night and then didn't wake up until about the time the supposed chat with Danielle was already over.  For the rest of the night he was with Joe, Jenn, and Ashley.  I don't know WHY it took until now for Joe to realize this, but for whatever reason, now he either gets it or he just says he does.

Well, everyone suddenly decided to go to bed. So I guess we will not know until tomorrow who is going up on the block against Joe. I think it will be Joe vs Wil. I don't see Shane being okay with being a voluteer pawn, and I think that Frank is going to try to guilt trip Wil into it.

Not going to lie to you guys. I am worried about my player again this week.  I think he is in danger of going home if he gets put up by Joe. He has to win veto or SOMETHING at this point and keep his ass in the game. If Wil gets ousted this week I will surely die of boredom watching the overnight feeds and doing the overnight blogs, so something HAS to happen. It just HAS to right?

I'm going to cross my fingers, toes, and any other appendages I can manage that things go alright this week.  What are you guys thinking? Any thoughts on the Janelle exit? She used to be one of my favorites, but this season I am sorry to say I was not sad to see her go.

Big Brother #14, Episode 13 Recap

Willie May stumbling in the outfield during the 1973 World Series. Brett Favre hobbling off the Metrodome turf after his millionth interception. The surviving Beatles adding computer-enhanced vocals to John Lennon demos. Johnny Unitas being sandwiched by defensive linemen on play after play in a San Diego Chargers uniform. The entire roster of actors that co-star on TV Land “original” shows.

These are just some of the embarrassing codas to otherwise legendary careers, and tonight we say goodbye to another type of superstar. Sure, calling a reality television star a “legend” is kind of silly, but Janelle Pierzina is one of a handful who could make that claim. A blonde, athletic beauty, Janelle’s two earlier appearances were full of must-see TV moments. Ultimately, she lost both times, but her competition prowess and sexy swagger made her the only Big Brother cast member to win two “Favorite House Guest” awards.

She will be leaving us tonight primarily for having lost that touch that endeared her to both viewers and fellow players in her previous season. Her fibs betrayed any appearance of honesty. Emotionally, she was a stiff who spent more time sleeping than she did interacting with others. Most importantly, she failed to sniff the changing crosswinds in the house, and was ultimately outplayed by her most hated rival, Mike “Boogie” Malin. Like everybody listed in that above paragraph, the instincts and reflexes were just not there this season.

Before we get to that moment where thousands of hardcore fans smash their televisions and leap off their balcony, we have lots of silliness to plow through. Yes, it is reaction time. How did Janelle and the rest of the house feel about the shocking move to replace Wil’s nomination with Janelle?

Like always, it depends on who is doing the talking. Janelle is shocked, especially since “she is not even on my radar, and now she definitely is”. She’s going to do what she needs to do to say. Britney notes that unlike usual veto meetings, everybody is kind of frozen in “shock and horror…but the truth of the matter is, nobody is truly shocked except for Janelle”.

Wil screams in celebration while in the diary room, and promises to bake a cherry pie in celebration. Britney, though, rushes into the bedroom where Janelle is reading the Bible (lol) to pretend like she has no clue this was going to happen. At the same time, Boogie asks the camera if he can take a bow. “Danielle thinks she’s the head of household this week, but basically I just took over her HOH and got everybody to do what I wanted.”

Danielle is now in the HOH, and Janelle rushes in to ask why she was put up. Danielle claims that “everybody” has been telling her that Janelle is after her, and is lying to her. “I’ve never said to anybody in this house that I’m coming after her.” Janelle knows that people have been feeding lies to her, as “she could never come up with this on her own”. She immediately blames Dan, but Danielle claims she hasn’t talked to him all day, and that she’ll probably survive the week anyway.

Dan now joins Danielle in the HOH, and yells in the diary room that she has graduated from the Dan School of Big Brother. Oh please. She recounts the conversation with Janelle. Well, she sort of tells him, exaggerating just a little bit.

Dan now pulls Janelle into the storage room, and claims that he has no idea what caused her nomination. It’s just a girl thing, he says, and he probably won’t be able to vote to save her because it would piss her off. Janelle thinks that she only needs two more votes, and Dan says any coach is screwed if they’re put up.

Boogie interrupts the conversation by coming in for some milk, and takes his time before leaving. Janelle repeats her complaint that she didn’t even put on makeup because she had no clue this was coming in, and after leaving the storage room she says she’s confident she can get the votes.

She heads into the lounge with Wil and Joe, who both claim that they’ll be voting for her. She also tells Jenn that she wouldn’t target her if she stays, and also whines to Ashley that she hopes she wouldn’t vote her out.

Now that she believes she has the votes, she pulls Britney into the lounge to verify that she has her vote. She runs down all the votes she has, and Britney replies that she believes there may be some things happening that she’s not aware of. Janelle adds that the coaches “need to stick together, or we’ll have no shot”. Britney says in the diary room that not only is Janelle making her feel bad, but she’s “making some really good sense. She’s not coming after me. She’s not coming after the coaches. Why am I voting out someone who is an ally and an asset to me in this game?”

Britney races to the HOH, and cries that she can’t “keep up this charade any longer. I feel like a bad, bad person.” Dan, Shane, and Danielle don’t seem to really care for what she has to say, even when she asks why they’re voting her out. “When she doesn’t need you, she avoids you and treats you like crap”, replies Danielle in between bites of Cheez-its.

After commercials, it is time for the dreaded house interview. As predicted on last week’s Big Brother Gossip Show, the first question goes to Frank’s “spiritard”. He’s even made to give a cheer. Gag me now. Boogie is then asked about how he wasn’t happy with the game reset, but he says he’s feeling better about it now. “I did a little work this week, and I think I’m feeling better about it.”

Wait, a question to Jenn??? Wow, shocker! She’s asked about competing with the coaches, and she says she’s “just living on a prayer”. She also claims that she believes her chances are better now that she’s on her own. Oh, I’m sure that will be discussed later tonight.

Ugh, and as also predicted on the Big Brother Gossip Show, we have to sit through a montage of Ian as a dog. He says he’s been loving every minute of his time in the house, and “it wouldn’t be the full Big Brother experience without a penalty costume”.

OMG, more filler – the fake romance between Ian and Ashley…complete with their parents. Gross, and CBS should be ashamed for this selective editing. Wait, his mom thinks the house is “scared” of him??? Bwahahahahah!

As they say on BBUK, it’s “crunch time”. Frank gets to make the first plea, and he claims that he’s played the game “like a gentleman”. Mama told him to “keep it classy”, and he says he’s done just that. Ooof, even Julie says that he sounds like Ron Burgendy.

Janelle is up next, and she says she loves “all of you”, and would be willing to help anybody with their game if they keep her. Otherwise, no hard feelings if she does leave tonght.

The live voting then commences with Boogie, who obviously votes to evict Janelle, as does Jenn. Joe, though, votes to evict Frank, but Wil, Ashley, Britney, Shane, kiss-ass Dan, and Ian all vote to evict Janelle. She’s out by a 8-1 vote!

Julie makes her announcement, and Janelle calmly hugs all (saying “it’s just a game”) before heading out the door to a huge cheer! Mickey Mantle has left the building! Julie notes that she kept it classy, and Julie notes that she isn’t nearly as surprises as she was when nominated. She says she’s out because she’s a strong player, which is a compliment. While she is being cool and calm, what is with the little girl voice that she’s using? Julie also asks why she hit the reset when she still had three players in the game, and it’s just because she wanted to play.

Frank is the next topic, and she says that she was “scared of him” because he was such a strong player. It may have hurt her a little in the game, but he was also the focus of others. Janelle is then asked about the fateful coach’s meeting n the HOH, and she says she “didn’t want to throw Wil or Joe under the bus”. This leads into her rivalry with Boogie, but while he got her this time the “target is too big on him to win the game this time. I’m rooting for Dan. I love Dan.”

The goodbye messages then roll, and Dan explains how her unwilling to sacrifice her teammates is what cost her. Britney whines about how she feels bad about being a part of the plan, and Joe does his customary nonsensical screaming. He promises to avenge her eviction. Boogie brags that she shouldn’t blame the others – “this one was all me. So for the third time, always the bridesmaid but never the Big Brother bride.” Janelle’s response? “He’s such a loser. What a douchebag. Screw you, Mike Boogie.”

Ok, it’s now HOH competition time, and it’s a “knockout” type question game called “Big Brother Battle of the Bands”. Hmmm, this would be a perfect title for a game that Jenn wins. A song is played, and then the players choose whether the song describes a HOH, Coach, or Veto competition. A right answer means you remain for the next round; the wrong answer means the other player remains.

The game starts with Wil versus Jenn, and they’re both confused before Wil correctly answers that it was a HOH song. He chooses Boogie versus Joe in the next round, and Boogie correctly chooses a veto song. He then picks Wil versus Ashley, who almost flashes us. Ashley is first this time, and she is right on with her HOH guess.

Ashley is completely confused about what she has to do next, and finally picks Britney and Shane for the next round. Britney is the first to ring in, and she is also right on with her coach choice. Ash and Ian are now up, and Ian correctly picks Coach. He then picks Dan and Britney, and this time Britney is right with HOH. Frank and Boogie then face each other, and Boogie immediately hits veto before the song even starts. He’s obviously wrong, and Ian and Britney now have to face each other.

They both leap at the button at the same time, but Britney is just a split second early with the correct veto pick. It’s now Frank versus Britney for the HOH victory, and Frank picks veto. Yes, he is right…and Frank is the new HOH!!!

There is one final segment in the show, with Julie talking to Frank. It’s a pretty worthless couple of minutes, and that’s it for this episode. What did you think of tonight’s show? Are you sad to see Janelle hit the road? Give us your thoughts!

Going.. going..... and DR leak.

Ok people's - Janelle is going. Give up all hope Janelle fans.  It will be 8-1 most likely with Joe being the only vote to save.  On the right we see her laying in the HoH bathroom during todays lockdown - to me that look says she knows she is going - or suspects it.

This will be short as all will change in about 3 hours with a new HoH.

There was a diary room leak at 10:09am this morning - you can hear it on cams 3/4.  The feeds cut before we heard it all but Boogie told Frank what happend later in the afternoon.  Dan was called to the DR and then......

Boogie, "I heard Jordan (a production assistant in the DR I assume) goes to Dan, 'Hey buddy! So the silent six' "

Frank, "No Way"

Boogie, "It was like, cutoff right on the 'siiii' and every..." (feeds cut)

So it sounds like the HGs that don't know about the 'silent six' may not have understood the reference - but it is still something to keep an eye out for and Joe made a comment to Dan afterwards about the 'nice diary room' thing (but Joe was half or all the way asleep when it happend).

Either way as was said at 10:24 am,

Boogie, "...figure that shit out you know?"

Frank, "Thats twice now..."

Wil, "What?"

Boogie, "The f'n blasting the diaries.. like figure that s*t out yo..." (blasting = broadcasting)

Jenn, "Get your buttons in order" (production)

Boogie, "... 13 years..."  (feeds cut)

It really is dissapointing that someone's game could be ruined by a mistake by production.  In this case I dont' think it has been but we'll have to watch the feeds closely to see if anyone that heard the comments that isn't a member of the 'silent six' thinks Dan is up to something.
