The Night Owl

Crazy, Crazy, CRAZY!!  They are ALL out of their minds and have been at it nonstop for most of the day and night.  I don't even know how to begin explaining all that happened, so I will just try to hit the high (and really low) points.

When I fired up the feeds today the veto comp was already underway.  When the feeds returned we learned that it was the Zingbot veto comp and that Amanda had won.  I think we were all kind of expecting that to happen.  No, I do NOT think it was rigged. I just think that in BB, typically if a lot of the HGs don't want someone to win, they usually do. IE Elissa winning HOH this past week. I think this year may see the end of the Zingbot comps, or maybe they will just start doing them at a different time in the season, because this one was as rough as last year.  Last year the person wearing the Zingbot costume had a heat-stroke and fainted.  This year Judd threw up and had to be put on oxygen, and some of the others required oxygen and medical attention because they couldn't breathe.  Heat is not a friend to the Zingbot comps.

One would THINK that winning veto and being able to keep both herself and McCrae safe would make Amanda happy, but ohh no, not until she is in complete control of every move made by the HOH can she rest.  Amanda does not want anyone but Judd or GinaMarie going up next to Aaryn on the block because she wants to be able to keep Aaryn.  Elissa wants/wanted to put Andy up because she felt that Amanda and McCrae would not vote Andy out in order to keep Aaryn (which is true).  Amanda created an elaborate scheme to fool people. She marched up to the HOH and told Elissa that she HOPES she puts up Andy because no one else will, and that she is keeping Aaryn no matter what and so will McCrae.  She told Elissa that everyone likes Andy so this is the perfect opportunity to vote Andy out.  Elissa remained mostly unaffected and jus tkind of made fun of Amanda saying that to her face.  After Amanda went back outside, Elissa came down and saw her sitting and talking game with Andy.  She asked her if she was telling Andy her latest scheme to vote him out.  THe truth is, Amanda was in fact telling Andy that  he needed to act like she told him she was going to vote him out.  (it's already confusing and I just started).

Anyway, Andy ran into the house and went in the cockpit and started fake crying to Elissa and telling her that Amanda said she was going to vote him out, but the only way to make sure Aaryn went home was to ptu up GinaMarie.  Elissa told Andy she wasn't sure if he was just faking and in on the scheme or not, but that she didn't want him to go home, she just wanted to assure that Aaryn went home.

A little while after this, many fireworks happened here and there between Amanda and Elissa.  Elissa while giggling told Amanda that she threw the competition to her to help her stay safe (in order to annoy her).  Her plan worked, and Amanda got all fired up and started yelling about how ridiculous it was for anyone to say that etc...  Then she told Elissa that she looked plastic and started insulting her husband and kids etc... as Amanda does.   Elissa brought up Amanda telling everyone she was pregnant during the sequester time before the show, and asked her why she would still come on the show after losing a baby and then immediately hookup with someone who wasn't her boyfriend the first week.   Blows like this were exchanged throughout the night for a while until they got booze and they went into their separate groups to talk trash about each other to other people.  Amanda strutted around wearing the veto necklace while doing this...I just couldn't leave that part out.

At some point Judd talked first to Andy and Elissa up in the HOH room about making sure that Andy stayed if he went up.  Elissa told everyone she was convinced that GinaMarie would be voting out Aaryn with everyone else, and Judd even said he would offer GM is $5k to vote against Aaryn.  Andy was still nervous about the idea of going on the block though and also still playing it up for the two of them, and exited the HOH in kind of a huff.  Judd then talked to GinaMarie downstairs in front of Andy and started asking her if she would vote Aaryn out.  GinaMarie was non-committal about it (because she will never vote against Aaryn).  GinaMarie had also had a LOOOONG mind bending chat with Amanda during all the fighting, and was starting to distance herself from Elissa a little.  She told Judd "I can't vote out my BB bunny"  when it was just the 2 of them, and that got Judd thinking. What he did not realize is that what he was thinking is exactly the plan that Amanda wanted.

Judd went to Andy and Spencer and asked them if they would vote out Aaryn and they both said they would and swore to it.  Judd said maybe Elissa SHOULD put up GinaMarie since that's the only vote they are not sure about.  He ran the idea by Elissa and told her why.  She asked Andy and Spencer about their votes if she put up GM, and made them swear by them, and they all had a really REALLY long talk about all working together to get Amanda out of the house in the upcoming week. Everything SEEMED to be right on track.

Judd went outside where Amanda, McCrae, and Aaryn were trahsing Elissa by the hot tub, and Amanda tried to get into it with Judd, with Aaryn jumping in like the good lapdog that she is.  Amanda kept pointing out "you hate me. I can tell.  I didn't do anything to you that everyone else in this house didn't do.  It was Helen and Elissa that wanted this for you"  blah blah blah blah blah.  Judd wouldn't take the bait and just kept telling her he didn't want to bring up old wounds, but he did mention that he saw the tape where she smiled really big when Aaryn nominated him.  Aaryn kept throwing in something about how he had used the term "BB Bunny" in a condescending way towards her (WHAT?!).  So help me, it was the dumbest thing she has said since "the most offensive thing you can do to a Texan is sit on their hat."

While this half argument was going on, Andy and Spencer talked to each other in the cockpit alone for a few minutes.  They agreed that they really DO want Aaryn gone this week and that they were just going to have to tell Amanda "Look, we are voting her out and that's just how it is."  Andy also told Spencer that truthfully he is leaning more towards working with Judd and Elissa than with Amanda and McCrae, and that if he got HOH he thinks he would have to put Amanda and McCrae up so they could get Amanda  out of the house, because it is time to cut her loose. They both agreed that even though they had been scared about Judd coming back in the house, they both feel now that it's the best thing that could have happened, and perfect timing for going after Amanda.

Judd went and talked to GinaMarie a little bit and told her he didn't know if she would go up or not, but that if she did, for her not to worry because she was staying.  He promised her he would never directly put her up and told her how grateful he was to her for being one of the only 2 people that did not want him out when he got evicted.  Aaryn came in and started telling lies and talking bullshit as usual (this really is all Aaryn does.  She mostly runs to Amanda and just makes things up out of nowhere.  It's really strange).  She told GinaMarie to go and have a chat with Elissa.

Judd went upstairs to tell Elissa what was going on  and warn her that Aaryn had told GinaMarie to come and have a conversation with her.  This is when Elissa lost her marbles again.  Elissa decided that Judd was working with Amanda/McCrae/Aaryn again.  I have NO idea where this came from, but she was clearly angry about it.  Judd tried to tell Elissa that wasn't the case and explained to her all the reasons he can't stand them now and wants Amanda out and wants Aaryn out.  Elissa wasn't having it.  Judd gave Elissa the gold coin he keeps with him that his mom gave him and told her that if he was lying she could keep it. Then Andy came in the room.  Andy confirmed everything Judd was saying about being anti-Amanda and Aaryn now and wanting to vote Aaryn out.  Elissa did not believe them and dismissed them from her room saying she was going to bed...but she didn't.

Elissa decided to hold court with GinaMarie and told her that Judd wants her up on the block SOOO bad because he wants Elissa and GM to turn against each other...which is NOT true at all.  Judd really wanted to work with GinaMarie, Elissa, Andy, and Spencer.   Elissa told GinaMarie that she is NOT putting her up, but that she is pretending she is going to and then she is putting Andy on the block anyway.  Putting Andy up won't send him home, Aaryn will still go, but Elissa's perception of what is happening is WAAAY off the map.  GinaMarie TOLD Elissa she will vote out Aaryn.  Whether she actually will or not, I don't know, but Amanda and McCrae are not going to vote Andy out, so really it won't matter in the end except that now Judd won't have the original support he did from GinaMarie and Elissa.

Spencer and Judd are still awake just talking about past things and about wanting Amanda out.  A few others are still awake as well, but things seem to be winding down for the night.  So much game happened tonight it's hard to keep up, and I LOVE it.  I am loving the fact that the feeds are not boring again.

I know a lot of people tweeted me in anger about Judd working with Andy and Spencer tonight, but honestly, what could he do?  He can't just work alone with Elissa who can't play for the coming HOH, especially because she is bat shit crazy and stops trusting people out of nowhere for weird ass reasons.  He has to have someone, and he can't work with and doesn't want to work with Aaryn/Amanda/McCrae.  So there it is.  I think it was sort of a wise choice with his only mistake being telling Elissa to put up GM instead of Andy..which he really had good intentions about.

It's time for me to wind down now myself so I can gear up for another day of non-stop gaming.  As always, you guys can follow me on twitter @ashes2ashes13 for more overnight feed updates.  Until tomorrow night...

The Perfect Backdoor -- Or Not

Amanda on the block with no ability to save herself!

That's what I woke up this morning thinking about. #BB15 events had finally led to a scenario which helped this newbie better understand the concept of the "backdoor." Indy Mike helped me learn it in generic terms:

Elissa holds court in the HOH room.- Head of Household nominates two people for eviction.

- In the Power of Veto competition, players consist of the HOH, the two nominees, and three additional randomly-drawn house guests. (Sometimes one of the chips drawn says "house guest's choice," so one player is slightly less random.)

- Earlier in the #BB15 season when the MVP picked a third nominee, the POV players consisted of the HOH, the three nominees, and two additional randomly-drawn house guests.

- If the HOH wins POV, she or he might save one of the original nominees -- so that s/he can nominate somebody different, who would then have no opportunity to compete to pull her/himself off the block before the eviction vote. This new nominee (who, by the way, would be labelled on our Ticker graphic at right as "Nominated via POV"), if evicted, would be considered to have been "backdoored."

- If one of the nominees wins POV, s/he virtually always saves her/himself ... so whomever picked the saved nominee (HOH or, earlier in the season, MVP) picks a new nominee. This new nominee, if evicted, is considered to have been "backdoored."

Power of Veto.- If a non-nominee wins POV, s/he gets to choose to pull somebody off the block. And then ... yup ... a new nominee goes up. If the new nominee is evicted, is s/he also considered to have been backdoored?

- The POV winner may choose not to use his/her veto, leaving the original eviction nominees in place. (Andy did that last week.)

As the day started this morning, the situation was this: Elissa is HOH, Aaryn and McCrae are on the block, and the POV competition was coming up. Elissa was Helen's strongest ally and she's no fan of Amanda. I haven't myself been much of an Elissa fan (I certainly had nothing good to say about her in my last post), but there was reason to think Elissa had been scheming to backdoor Amanda. And this, to me, was indeed good news.

Oh, noooo! See what Amanda's wearing today? What I didn't realize until reading Ash's "Night Owl" post this morning is that the house guests selected to be the additional POV players today were Judd, GinaMarie, and ... Amanda. Uh oh!

Here's another thing newbie viewers need to learn: An unnominated house guest who wins POV also wins immunity for the week. She or he can't be nominated.

You get one guess who won POV early Saturday afternoon. So much for the perfect backdoor! It was exactly the right time for somebody who had previously won nothing to win a comp.

My dream scenario for this next week is ruined. Since my favorite house guest (Helen) was evicted, I was hoping to see Amanda go next -- thus eliminating the two most powerful players in consecutive weeks and necessitating an entirely new power structure to be formed in #BB15's remaining weeks. That would have been absolutely delicious to watch.

Let the next speculations begin. Current thinking is that Elissa will put up Andy, Spencer, or GinaMarie. Who do you think is most likely? Amanda will save McCrae, obviously. Will Aaryn go to jury or the new nominee? Comment below or hit me up @uselesstraffic.

Knowing they're potential replacement nominees, Andy and Spencer try to get on Elissa's good side.

The Night Owl

Wow wow WOW!! What a night!!  I will try to gloss over the early day and evening stuff so I can get to the juicy bits for you.   Early in the day McCrae and Aaryn were nominated.  Elissa had stated to everyone that Aaryn was her target, but as I said before, I was hoping she had a bigger plan.  Elissa made a deal with Judd to work with him for as long as they could toward the end, and Elissa told him she was so happy he was back and confided in him her plans.

Aaryn moped around knowing that she could quite possibly be going home, and despite everyone telling her to just be quiet and they have the votes to keep her, she still for some reason ran to the ONE person who wouldn't and couldn't help her....Amanda!  She told Amanda she was so pissed that Judd was back in the house and got his key. She told her she was sure that GinaMarie had a deal with Elissa (which she kind of does, but not the kind of deal Aaryn was thinking).  Amanda and Aaryn bitched and whined to each other and laid around for most of the evening.

While Amanda, Aaryn, and McCrae were laying around, GinaMarie had a very very long conversation about Aaryn and about Amanda.  Elissa told GinaMarie a lot of the things Aaryn has said about her and they both agreed for the most part that Amanda was a huge part, if not all of the problem between the girls in the house.

Cut to a little while later and Elissa has a DR session.  when she came out of the DR session she caught Judd in the bathroom hallway and asked him what he thought about the idea of getting rid of Amanda instead.  He said he was on board.  She asked him if he thought it was a better idea than getting rid of Aaryn, and he said definitely.  So she sent him to go get Aaryn and send her up to the HOH room.

When Aaryn came into the HOH room, Elissa just came right out with it: "I think we should just put everything behind us and work together and get Amanda out."   She asked Aaryn if she would be on board and of course Aaryn said yes.  Elissa told her that she almost wanted to win the veto herself just to prove to Aaryn how serious she was, but that she still wanted Aaryn to fight like crazy for it.  They had a long talk in which Elissa told her that she felt like Amanda was the problem between the two of them and she really wanted to see if they could work together with Amanda out of the house and not in the middle of them.  It's honestly one of the only times I think I've ever seen Aaryn not scowling.

A little while after Aaryn found out about what was going on, she only had time to fill GinaMarie (who already knew) on a little bit of it when the feeds were cut to fish so they could draw players for the veto competition.  Elissa told Aaryn in their discussion that if she gets HG choice she could do whatever she wanted to, but that she might want to consider picking Judd over GM as he is a little stronger in competition and she knew for a fact Judd would take Aaryn off the block.  Earlier in the night Amanda had told Aaryn that she had to pick HER to play for her (why Amand though Aaryn would pick her is beyond me.  Yes, I pick you so you can play for you and yoru boyfriend and not me..).  While picking Amanda might be a smart move because she has yet to win anything, Aaryn went with Elissa's plan instead.  When the feeds returned, chaos had ensued.

Spencer was complaining because he did not get drawn. McCrae and Amanda were freaking out about Aaryn picking Judd to play for her.  Everyone was essentially going a little nuts.  Once Spencer calmed down, McCrae came into the cockpit to bitch about the situation and about how he didn't think Elissa looked happy when she drew Amanda's chip to play. Everyone was making their own argument for their own problem at once and also wondering if it would be a night comp or a morning comp.  I preferred the Judd response.

Just when all the boys in the cockpit were starting to get settled down, Amanda started her mad pacing through the house watching for anyone who might be talking game.  She passed by GinaMarie and Elissa drinking at the kitchen counter a few times and mean mugged them until Elissa finally spit her drink out (literally) in a fit of giggles.  This sent Amanda off.  She thought they were whispering to each other, and so she started yelling really loudly to Elissa that GinaMarie had talked more shit about her than anyone else in the house etc..  GinaMarie fought right back though with a "And you never said ANYTHING about her though, huh?"  It got louder and louder until all you could hear was GinaMarie yelling over Amanda, and Elissa took GM by the shoulders and told her to just stop because it was what Amanda wanted.

Amanda and McCrae retreated to their bed so that Amanda could talk about how much she hates all the "phony ass kissers" in the house and talk about how she would never do that and how REAL she is. (lol I'm not even trying to be funny..this joke just makes itself).  GM came in and apologized for getting loud and told her that they really were just laughing at her pacing and making faces at them.

Amanda still on a mission marched up to the HOH to "talk" to Elissa.  She started with her usually loop "I've been the only one there for you." "I saved you" "They hate you" "They are all terrible people and you only have me."  She ended in tears and sobs asking Elissa if she was going to be "backdoored (even though you can't be backdoored if you are playing in veto).  Elissa literally could not contain herself.  She started laughing and she couldn't stop.  A few times Elissa tried to hold in the idea of Amanda going up, but every time Amanda asked she kept bursting into giggles.  After a while of Amanda's ranting, Elissa told her she was going to bed and they would just have to talk about it later and sent Amanda and McCrae from the room.

Amanda of course started whining and complaining to McCrae, and Aaryn when she could find her about Elissa laughing at her.  She also kept trying to convince Aaryn that Aaryn needs to let HER win the veto so she can take McCrae off and then convince everyone to keep Aaryn

While Amanda went through her motions and loops, the rest of the house studied the memory wall together and speculated whether this would be "morphomatic" veto or "How bad do you want it" or something else.

Everyone has gone to bed now, but Aaryn halfway filled in Spencer on what the real plan really was before they went to bed, and Judd let Andy speculate without actually saying anything to him that it would really be the best for all of them if Amanda did not win veto and went home this week.

I really feel bad for McCrae.  The poor guy is on the block for the first time, but as per usually he is forced to try to calm his crazy ass girlfriend down and try to save both of their asses now that she is making so much noise.  At this point he is kind of stuck with her until she leaves because it would be too risky to jump ship just now without actually knowing what the plan is or having a sure fire parachute alliance.

I do not think the veto will be tonight.  It may be early in the morning, or they may have just done the draw tonight because tension was high and they knew people would explode and lose it.  If the latter, I'm thankful they brought the entertainment.  If anyone playing in the veto (McCrae, Aaryn, Judd, Elissa, GinaMarie, Amanda) besides Amanda wins it, it looks like Amanda might actually be toast this week.  Elissa is nuts and I have no idea what she has in store or if she will keep her sights set on Amanda, but for now I like where this is headed.  Then again, the one person you don't want to win  always does, right?  Either way, this has been a fun evening to watch on the feeds.  There was also a lot of humor and entertainment in between that I didn't have time to write about (thank you Judd).  As always, you guys can follow me on twitter @ashes2ashes13 for more overnight feed updates.  Here's hoping things get even more nuts after veto tomorrow!! Until tomorrow night...

The Night Owl

Wow, what a night! First off, "Guess who's back, back again!"  I could not be more excited that of the 4 people competing, Judd won the competition to get back into the house!

And just as the whole house didn't want Aaryn to win HOH when she stayed, but she did, they all did not want Elissa to win tonight, so of COURSE Elissa got HOH.

As soon as the HOH comp was over and everyone came inside, the HGs scattered to their various corners to talk about how unhappy they were with both the return of a HG and with Elissa getting HOH.  Amanda immediately started her same old loop. She pulled Andy and McCrae into the cockpit so she could talk about how she is still SURE Judd was MVP and he just HAS to go because he has been trying to get her out of the house for WEEKS now.  Andy was more than happy to jump in with about a million "it's not fair's" and McCrae agreed.  Amanda also went straight to Elissa to try to get Judd put on the block. Elissa flat out told Amanda she would not be putting up Judd.

Elissa did tell Amanda that she would definitely be putting up Aaryn and possibly McCrae next to Aaryn.  What she said out loud was that she wants someone on the block that can beat Aaryn in veto, and that she wants someone who will fight their heart out to keep Aaryn from getting it.  It's very possible that this is the case, but I'm hoping that Elissa has bigger plans.  Amanda ran straight to McCrae to talk to him about what Elissa told her.  Amanda started crying over how she didn't win HOH and how McCrae might be going on the block, and they both schemed about how to get GinaMarie put up so they could still vote out Aaryn but keep themselves safe.  They also schemed about what to tell Judd about his eviction and eventually decided to blame it all on Helen and tell him that Helen had been telling them that he was MVP and he was after her.

McCrae then pulled Elissa into the cockpit to tell her how "dumb" it would be to put him on the block next to Aaryn.  He told her he would do anything to win the veto anyway including shave his head, and made a pretty long and convincing, if not somewhat forceful argument.  For a while it seemed like Elissa bought it.  She told McCrae she would consider not putting him up, but that Aaryn MUST go and if she feels like ANYONE doesn't fight as hard as they can for the veto, she is putting that person up next to Aaryn.

Then Elissa pulled Spencer into the have-not room.  She made the same threats about veto that she made to McCrae to Spencer and also made a deal with him for 2 weeks of safety if she didn't put him on the block and told him she would likely be putting up McCrae and Aaryn.  Spencer acted like he was cool with all of this but then ran to McCrae and Andy to report all that Elissa had said.

During this time Aaryn (who I am sure knows the deal) mostly just laid around and looked like she might die, and Andy revived his old game of "pop goes the weasel" into every conversation he could fit himself into.

Pretty late in the night Elissa got her HOH room.  She got her Yoga matt (though it wasn't the right kind) and pictures (though they were not the ones she wanted), Fake eyelashes (that she said she would NEVER wear), pictures her little boy drew for her, a necklace from her mother, A letter from Rachel, and a large bottle of Skinny Girl Tequila.  Aaryn was the first to say she was tired and leave the HOH.

Once Aaryn went downstairs, Andy eventually followed her so that he could talk to her.  He told her he did not want GinaMarie going up next to her and that he thought McCrae would probably be the one going up with her.  He told her that he would prefer that over GM going up.  Now, I don't know if Andy is totally serious about his final 3 with Aaryn and GM or if he is just saying things to her in case she comes off the block, but if he is serious, McCrae, or whoever takes that spot next to Aaryn tomorrow could actually be in trouble.

Not to be deterred from being able to control the nominations, Amanda wasted no time in snuggling right up to "her new best friend".  I'm hoping all of this has no affect at all on Elissa just like everything else anyone tells her.

It's very hard for me to tell if Elissa really does live on another planet, or if there are actually wheels turning, but here is what I am HOPING she is doing.  I am hoping she is trying to break up the two major duos still left in the house by putting one of each up (McCrae and Aaryn).  If Aaryn won veto I am hoping she would put up Amanda next to McCrae to break them up, or put up GinaMarie next to Aaryn if McCrae came down.  That way you break up one of the couples either way.  I'm not positive this is what she is doing, but it's the only thing that I think would make sense with the nominations she is making.

At this point a lot of them are still awake and I'm not sure how much more game talk will happen tonight, but I THINK it's likely that Aaryn and McCrae will go on the block today with Aaryn being the target.  Elissa is a little different from all the previous HOH's though, and that could be subject to change..especially with Amanda and McCrae constantly in her ear.  It should be an interesting week depending on who goes up and who wins veto.  Elissa seems determined to make her HOH count (that's what Helen told her to do) so maybe a decent sized move will be made.

I'm SO happy Judd is back! I'm not an Elissa fan, but I'm happy to see the person they all did not want to win HOH actually get it, and if she sends out Amanda, all the better for me.  This has the potential to be an interesting week between all the paranoia, campaigning, and fighting.  I don't think it will go exactly as any one person has planned out...for once.  As always, you guys can follow me on twitter @ashes2ashes13 for more overnight feed updates.  Until tomorrow night...

Drama vs. Absurdity

Helen is very polarizing, isn't she? Love her (and/or her game play) or hate her (and/or her game play), nearly every #BB15 fan knows Helen and has a strong opinion about her presence in the house this season. Amanda, too.

But what do your feelings about Helen or Amanda say about you? BigBrotherGossip.com reader "leopardgrrl1" commented on my morning post about Helen (see "There's Logic Behind My Loyalty" -- and don't miss the comments, which have been very active and well-written today!). What she had to say was so insightful that we asked for permission to make a new post so that nobody would miss it.

With some extra polish she thoughtfully added for all of us (thank you!), here are "leopardgrrl1"'s thoughts:

To some extent, which houseguest you like becomes a Rorschach test, that reflects your own values: not that the player is a "good" person, but that you can relate to them on some level. Amanda fans like her because she is clever, snarky, and seems to see hypocrisy where it exists. And she's a strong woman whose manipulation is more "male" than that practiced by most of the girlie girl types BB tends to cast. To an Amanda fan, Helen's very earnestness is off-putting, as is the (BB storytelling narrative-supported) reliance on demographic crutches, like the fact that she's a mom. Her playing to the storyline makes people uncomfortable because it feels like pandering, somehow more than girls making themselves up constantly and wearing skimpy clothing is pandering, I guess.

Another problem with Helen is that she doesn't balance her earnestness with much humor, either about herself, or about the game. Some live feeders want drama. I want absurdity, and an understanding of how crazy it is to have signed up to be locked in a house for three months, with your actions orchestrated for television, worrying about thing like whether you can dye your hair, or get your anti-depressants on time. When she's not melting down, or attacking people, Amanda does give us humor and perspective on the essential ridiculousness of the BB house.

Finally, Elissa is Helen's shield and her albatross: watching Helen means you have to watch Elissa. And that's just impossible. Yes, I've just revealed my POV: I cannot abide irrational, inconsistent people.

OK, dream scenario: Whoever comes back tonight (Judd preferred for my entertainment, though I think it will suck for him) needs to win HOH. Tomorrow's scramble would be great. Everyone would be working hard to convince Judd that someone else orchestrated his eviction. Who will he believe? Can he align with anyone? Will his anxiety sink him again?

There's Logic Behind My Loyalty

HelenThose here who like me, if anybody does, won't like me at all after reading this: I have been, and proudly remain, a loyal member of #TeamHelen.

Helen is the only house guest who hasn't annoyed me with confrontational mannerisms and deceit.

Don't misunderstand ... I'm not at all saying that she hasn't been confrontational and deceitful. As does every game player, she absolutely has employed her share of each. It just didn't annoy me.

Unlike, say, Amanda. Who has won nothing yet controls everything. Who has nothing kind to say about anybody. Who treats even her allies with disdain.

Unlike GinaMarie. Who is quite possibly the most mean-spirited non-fictional character I've ever seen on television. Geez, did you hear what she said to Candice the very last second that unfortunate woman was in the house? That was the moment when I was simply done with GM.

Amanda, you'll go eventually. Won't miss ya. GinaMarie? Sorry, I'll miss you even less than Amanda.Unlike Aaryn. Who was seemingly hated by all house guests (and viewers) for weeks yet survived it. Who has become, whether via actual skill or blind luck, one of the strongest players in the house ... yet who has resolutely and dutifully wasted the many opportunities given to her. Who has dreamt out loud in the Diary Room about big moves but who did only what others dictated.

Unlike McCrae. Who lives in the shadow of an autarch without realizing he can't win unless she goes first.

I will do what I want as HOH. I will do what I want as HOH. I will -- d'oh!! (Aaryn channels Homer Simpson.)Unlike Andy. Who lies and floats and lies and floats, feigning loyalty throughout. Who, except during his HOH week, purposely avoids success during every competition.

Unlike Candice. Who deserved none of the disgusting comments thrown at her by ignorant bullies but who literally slept through her eviction week, totally refusing to compete.

Unlike Elissa. Who is there only to shill for Elissa Slater Enterprises Company Incorporated, apparently under license and permission from CBS, if rumors about her higher stipend and special considerations are true.

And, at least a little, unlike Spencer. Who seems to survive not by being likable but by being less dislikable than others.

Helen's & Elissa's alliance is inherently less powerful than McCrae's & Amanda's. Showmance trumps friendship. Would Amanda have been as powerful without McCrae?Resigned to her fate, Helen packs.Helen has played the game enthusiastically, unapologetically, and, especially this week, constantly. She talked with everybody, trying to shape events and to prolong her time. Her strategy worked for many weeks, effectively sharing power with Amanda. You might not enjoy Helen's ceaseless talking and/or the ways she manipulated (or attempted to manipulate) people, but can't we agree that Helen is way more of a game player than many others in #BB15 are or have been?

Who makes you feel like this more often, Spencer? Amanda or Helen?Yes, I'm still new to all of this ... and, yes, she's been my favorite since I started watching. But as I've learned more about this game, my respect for Helen has grown.

I have no expectation that this will convince anybody to join me on #TeamHelen. Also, despite lots of speculation, to me it feels quite unlikely that Helen will win the jury comp to bounce right back into the house tonight.

Even so, even if you don't like her, wouldn't that be delicious to watch? After endless weeks of unanimous, predictable, boring eviction votes pre-arranged not by the HOH but by Amanda and, somewhat less directly, Helen, I would love to watch the following turn of events:

- Helen wins the jury competition and comes right back in.

- Elissa or Helen wins HOH.

- The HOH nominates, say, GinaMarie and Andy, with the intent to backdoor Amanda. Or Amanda and McCrae, for the sheer theatrics of it.

Helen dreams of a miracle. With Helen or Elissa as HOH, how hard would it be to convince Aaryn, GinaMarie, and Spencer that they'd last longer with Amanda gone -- and be happier, too?  For the second week in a row, only a three-vote majority would be needed to make it happen.

Only three votes!

On the other hand, this newbie has learned that Amanda's nastiness, while universally acknowledged by the house guests, apparently has no bearing on their strategies.

I haven't yet learned why.

"Unfortunately, this is how it ends. Unless a miracle happens," Helen said (at 6:46 PM last night, August 21, on camera 4). And she's right.

I hold one hope for #BB15 redemption: If Amanda goes the week after Helen, it'll be a whole new show.

When Helen goes, I'll be sad ... but Ash and Scott will be delighted. And for the record, I will enjoy reading their snarkiness about the entire episode in their next posts, as I have in their last ones. Don't take anything we write here too seriously, folks! We're glad you're reading, even when you might not be agreeing. What's your miracle scenario? Share it below or tweet me @uselesstraffic.

The Night Owl

Sometimes when you add alcohol crazy things happen.  The night started out pretty standard.  Amanda had a confrontation with Helen because she knew that Helen had been campaigning to Aaryn and GinaMarie to stay in the house.  The conversation took a really long time and went in a lot of circles, but basically ended up with Amanda outing all the information her allies had asked her not to about their conversations with Helen, and then Amanda telling Helen that she did not want to vote  to keep her, but that she was just one person and she didn't know how the others would be voting.  She also said she would vote with the house.

After this there was some scrambling back and forth from Helen about votes.  Andy told Helen he was keeping her 100% (he isn't) and McCrae kind of said he was keeping her, but also tried to bait her a little because he said he wants to know if Elissa was MVP or not, and thinks Helen might tell him for his vote.

Shortly after the scrambling, alcohol arrived.  Aaryn caught a little bit of a buzz and she and Amanda got into it while re-hashing the silly red wine Jeremy incident.  Aaryn told Amanda she was being a "little cunty" that night and Amanda freaked out. Aaryn pointed out that Aaryn had actually told her she WAS a "cunt" before but Amanda tried to justify that by saying it was just a joke.  Aaryn didn't take it so lightly and the next thing you know they are arguing with each other.

Originally it was just a small spat, but then Amanda started fighting with McCrae about it when McCrae told Amanda he did think she was a little "cunty" the night of the wine.  Amanda freaked out at McCrae and while she was yelling at him, upstairs Andy and Aaryn were talking about their ideal final 3 being GinaMarie and the two of them.  Andy drunkenly agreed with Aaryn that Amanda And McCrae are after GM because she is close with Aaryn, then Amanda came  up to the HOH with what started out trying to be something close to an apology, but ended up being a defensive mess that started a bigger fight.

After Amanda marched out of the HOH room mad to go fight with McCrae some more, Aaryn and Andy had a really long chat about everything Aaryn doesn't like about Amanda right now.  Aaryn cried about how she feels like she is doing Amanda's dirty work instead of doing what she wants to do.  She complained about how she feels like she is just being used while she is at the bottom of their alliance etc..  Eventually Amanda was traded for GinaMarie and Aaryn continued her rant.

After a while of ranting and talking about Amanda not having Aayrn's best interest in mind, GinaMarie and Aaryn came up with a plan to possibly backdoor Amanda in the morning at the veto ceremony.  They talked for a long time about the votes they thought they would have and the possibility of working with Helen and Andy, and eventually came to the conclusion that they wanted to follow through with the plan.

While GinaMarie and Aaryn were plotting Amanda's demise this week, Amanda continued to fight with McCrae downstairs.  McCrae felt like Amanda needed to just shut her mouth and let it go with Amanda, but Amanda of course said she "can't just sit there and let Aaryn think she is right about this!"  I am AMAZED and astounded at this point that Amanda has not killed her own game yet.  Her need to be right all the time is one of the most ridiculous things I've ever seen in the BB house.  To me it seems like the worst social game ever to walk around screaming at people all the time when you are usually wrong and can't win anything, but apparently in this season it gets everyone to think they have to listen to you.

Regardless, while Amanda and McCrae continued to fight, Aaryn got GM to go downstairs and summon Helen to the HOH room.  Helen and Aaryn talked about how Amanda only uses them both for her own gain and Aaryn told Helen she would feel way more comfortable with her there.  She told Helen all about Amanda's plan to get her out and about the fact that the nomination were not her choice again this week.  She told Helen that if Spencer goes up on the block she is going home, because that is Amanda's plan.  She then presented her with the idea of backdooring Amanda and asked for Helen's advice on getting the votes to make sure Amanda would go home.  They had just begun to get into a talk about making a deal with Spencer to get him to vote their way when Andy entered the HOH.

Aaryn approached Andy with the idea even though she had originally said they couldn't tell Andy because he would never vote that way.  Andy said (for the sake of saving face in front of Helen I'm sure) that he would definitely vote out whoever Aaryn put up and that he was cool with the plan.  Helen started sobbing and grabbed Andy's arm and told him she would NEVER vote him out so he better vote to keep her.  The plan was starting to gain some momentum when suddenly Amanda decided to march back up to the HOH and scatter everyone out so she could squash her beef with Aaryn.

Amanda told Aaryn that she alone had been keeping Aaryn safe and she alone was the reason Aaryn was there.  She also said she alone is the one that trusts Aaryn (even though last night she was planning when to get rid of her) and this whole "everything I do for you" rant went on for a long time.  For a while Aaryn resisted and told Amanda the problems she has with her, but eventually as we knew would likely happen, Amanda talked until Aaryn finally broke down.  Once we reached sobbing levels, I knew it was over and the backdoor plan was off the table.

Unfortunately for Aaryn, GinaMarie, Helen, and Elissa had been downstairs talking in the cockpit about the plan and Andy had told Spencer about it.  Spencer actually surprised me by telling McCrae and Andy that he was going to go volunteer himself and campaign to get himself put up because putting up Amanda was a bad idea.  He then swore that even if Amanda got put up, he would not vote against her no matter what.  Spencer and McCrae then started discussing how Aaryn needs to go very soon...like sooner than Elissa or anyone else..as in next week.

While Amanda and Aaryn were hashing it out, Aaryn lied her ass off and told Amanda that Helen had come to her sobbing and begging Aaryn to consider backdooring Amanda.  She then told her that Andy had been on board for the plan, but that it may have just been for show.  She also told Amanda that Andy had told her she and McCrae were gunning for GinaMarie, so Amanda had Andy summoned to the HOH room so she could confront him in front of Aaryn.  Aaryn pretty much fed Andy his lines of "you were just playing along for the sake of Helen, right?  Were you up here when she came crying to me with this plan?" etc..  Amanda bought it and eventually went back downstairs to talk with Spencer.  Andy remained in the HOH to ask Aaryn if she was still considering backdooring Amanda.  She said no, she was back on the plan to put Spencer up.  Aaryn told him that Helen was going to die now when she puts Spencer up in the morning.

Andy went downstairs and talked with Amanda and told her that he had stopped Aaryn from backdooring her, but that she needed to start keeping her mouth shut more because it was close.  As of now there is a game of "wait each other out" going on in the HOH room.  Helen is listening to the CD and waiting to be the last person in Aaryn's ear, while McCrae and Spencer sit around and talk with Aaryn making sure that Helen can't talk to her before she goes to bed.

Either way, even if Helen talks to Aaryn, I don't think it will make a difference.  I think we are back where we started at the beginning of the night with Spencer going up and Helen going home.  The only things that have changed are that Helen now knows she is going if Spencer goes up, and most of Aaryn's alliance doesn't trust her now.  I feel like if Aaryn had actually put Amanda up, she may have actually been able to secure the votes, but by just threatening to put her up and not actually following through, she now has Amanda, McCrae, Andy, Elissa, and Spencer possibly gunning for her this coming week.  Then again, someone is coming back from the jury and could potentially become public enemy number one...especially if Helen just bounces right back in.

I do not expect Aaryn's mind to be changed and I am certain that Spencer will be on the block by this afternoon.  I think this will be his 5th time, but don't quote me on that..it might actually be his 6th.  Unless anything super drastic happens, that's pretty much it for tonight. As always you all can follow me on twitter @ashes2ashes13 for more overnight updates.  Until tomorrow night...

Throw Out The Alliance Charts - Here Is How I See It.

I've had a really hard time this season explaining the 'Alliances' to people when asked.  The reason is because since Jeremy was given the boot, there really has not been one easy to define alliance of more than two people much less two major opposing alliances.  So after much thinking I came up with a visual of a piece of tile, or perhaps a plate where the outside keeps getting chipped away slowly.

That lead me to create the following image - which I further refined by placing circles trying to show who was closest the middle where the strongest forces are.

Helen is one very strong 'force' and I see Amanda/McCrae as the other (I do feel Amanda is the more dominent of those two however).

The next layer out has Andy and Elissa.  These two have close ties to both Amanda and Helen but I don't think of them as floaters since Amanda and Helen have been working together for most of the game (this relationship HAS to end soon).

Next in "orbit" (I've also compared this to a Solar System with two suns), would be GinaMarie, Judd and Aaryn.  Judd has fallen out of favor of late, although he doesn't seem to be too aware of it, if I were to re-do this I might bump him out to the next area.

That next and, once Candice leaves, final area has Jesse and Spencer in it.  Today Helen has been working to get closer to Spencer but I suspect thats only to keep him from getting close to Amanda/McCrae, I don't think she plans on pulling him in any closer.

Candice is all but gone - she and Howard would have been in the same area last week.

Thats how I see things, its going to have to fall apart soon, Helen and Amanda have already both explored the idea of voting each other out just this past weekend.  As soon as they split the others will pick a side and the lowest will probably end up floating between while the middle people get picked off.

Does this help you visualize things?  It will most likely be worthless after the second eviction on Thursday, although Jesse or Judd may go, the last three players to go via the second eviction in a double eviction night were Joe (BB14), Mike Boogie Ashlee (BB14) and Jeff (BB13).

50 Shades of Wrong

Big Brother just didn't feel right these last few days.

On the one hand, I assume that any of this week's Power of Veto competitors -- Amanda, Candice, Gina, Jessie, Judd, and Spencer -- had nearly equal chances of being stuck with the dog cone, the clown suit, or the repeated spray tans. As long as producers intended no specific "punishment" for any specific house guest, perhaps we should think that all is as it should be in a game show which is outrageous by design.

GinaMarie & Candice, neither looking especially happy. On the other hand, in a season already infamous for insensitive, incendiary house guest commentary, why would CBS allow producers to design competition outcomes which seek to produce humor and/or humiliation by changing participants' appearances into caricatures? Candice was targeted early on by racial comments ... which, whether spoken in malice or ignorance, were unquestionably inappropriate. Now Big Brother dresses Candice as a clown, practically inviting us to laugh at the character she was required to become? After days of this, it's no wonder she mostly stayed in seclusion on Monday. And what would everybody be saying if, instead of Amanda, Aaryn had been the one to have the color of her skin changed so drastically?

It's as if they're trying to morph #BB15 into a farcical reverse-psychology whacky after-school special on race relations.

Candice's clown outfit; Amanda after repeated spray tans.At best, this is uncomfortable. At worst, it's outright disrespectful. I'm not necessarily sayin' the producers shouldn't have gone ahead with plans which were probably in place before the season started. I'm just sayin' that it troubles me when factoring in the present context.

This is an honest reaction from a newbie's perspective, and my commitment to sharing the remaining #BB15 experience with you is unchanged. But CBS should recognize that events like these do not particularly inspire new viewers to come back next year.

CBS added a disclaimer to the feeds and broadcast this season for the first time in show history. Do I need my own disclaimer? These views are mine only, offered with zero offense-causing intent, in the hope of inspiring civil, respectful discourse even if we disagree. Comment here or chirp @uselesstraffic.

Big Brother Season 15, Episode 17 Recap

If you’re a stickler for correct sentence construction, or even a semi-accurate use of the English language, this is going to be a tough episode to endure. You see, a certain (former) pageant executive is going to live her dream of running the Big Brother house. She’s going to get her stuff, including a few pictures, and may even be able to take care of that mess down there, if you know what I mean.

So let’s kick it off with the start of the endurance competition. Immediately, Helen is struggling, and we hear Spencer say that he just has to win this. Then Elissa almost falls. She’s on her knees, but is able to save herself. Funny enough, it is Andy who makes fun of her difficulties.

Candice talks about being a big target, and being alone in the house, and starts crying over how lonely she is. “I’m a fighter”, she says. We then get a flashback to Howard’s eviction, and Amanda saying the “house did the right thing”. Aaryn adds that she hopes this is the beginning of a relationship with Helen since she did what Helen wanted. Andy goes on about Howard’s ‘weird metaphors” that indicated how shady he was. “As a result, he had to go.” As he leaves, he tells Candice he loves her and “go get your bed”.

They all stare at Howard’s photo as it goes dark, with Elissa adding a long, long “it’s saaaaaaad”. Spencer explains that he still wanted to vote against Amanda, but all it would hae done is piss her off. They hug anyway, although he says “I wish it was a goodbye hug”.

Amanda then heads into the bathroom and apologizes to Candice. Helen does the same, and babbles about how every week she decides who needs to go to help her game. Yes, another great edit for Helen.

We’re back to the endurance comp, and Helen is still struggling...and over-explaining how you have to do it. Aaryn mentions that McCrae makes it look easy, and he replies that “I have carny blood in me”. He then adds that he never works out, but “for some reason this competition is really easy for me”.

The barrels then pick up speed, and it is clear that Helen is about to drop. Spencer is also starting to sweat and breath really heavy. The contraption then reverses, and it’s now Andy’s turn to over-explain as many are struggling. Spencer is the first out and he punches the “china”. Candice is next, saying all she cared about is going out after Spencer. “My intuition told me to play a low-key game this week.” Say what?

Helen and Amanda both almost fall, and then Helen does drop, as Amanda says, “like broken cowboys after a long night of drinking”. Elissa is next, and then Amanda. McCrae is pissed that “all of my alliance members really suck at this”. A bit later, Judd is the next to fall, and he’s mad because “this was my competition”. Andy is next, leaving Jessie, GinaMarie, and McCrae left in the game.

It’s now time to open the “prizes” for being the first to drop. Spencer “wins” a bullhorn that he must use for the next 24 hours. Candice’s box has five thousand bucks. “Thank you, Jesus. Something good happened to me in the Big Brother house!” Helen, meanwhile, won a barbecue with four guests.

Back to the final three. Jessie starts to struggle, and falls. GinaMarie immediately starts offering the HOH room to him and Amanda. She’s non-stop chatter, and Aaryn wants her to win as she’s the only sure allie she has. GinaMarie just wants her crown and stuff, and complains that McCrae is a tough sell.

We head to commercials, and when we return Helen is shouting encouragement to the final two. Elissa hopes that GinaMarie doesn’t win because Arryn “will be in her head”. GinaMarie is still offering her deals, but McCrae says you can only trust yourself. They keep jabbering, and GinaMarie even offers to let him put up somebody. She’s getting upset that he won’t take her deals. “This Italian stallion ain’t going anywhere.”

Suddenly McCrae loses his balance and falls. GinaMarie isn’t sure what this means. “Did I win? DId I win? Can I get down?” Everybody hugs her, as she says it’s “like a dream come true”. Yeah, let her have her moment in the sun.

People are nervous, though, as GinaMarie is a “wild card’, as Amanda says. Candice hopes that she remembers how she felt when Nick left, because it’s just like her and Howard. Helen is also worried, as “no one knows where her head is”. She does what Helen does best, and completely kisses her ass about how great she is. Seriously, I hate Helen’s diary room comments even more than I did back in the Dan days.

GinaMarie runs off into the bedroom, stopping to kiss Nick’s pic, to dance around with Aaryn. Andy even comments how dumb they look as they jump around. McCrae looks a bit worried, but Amanda says there’s no way GinaMarie would nominate either of them. “She knows we’re not going after her.” McCrae, though, is concerned that somebody will get in her ear as “this would totally be the time to make a move on us”.

Amanda is then unpacking her clothes as Spencer is wandering around with his bullhorn. He motions that the two of them are cool. “I know what you did, and it’s cool”, she says. Spencer even says in the diary room that things with them are now ok. “I’ll keep him around as long as I need him”, adds Amanda.

Now GinaMarie is telling Aaryn how great she is, and totally so proud of herself for her victory. They want Candice out of the house. “Everyone in this house hates her.” GinaMarie wants her out for three reasons, and one of them is her voice. I can’t argue with that logic. Plus, she helped vote out Nick “so she can kiss my ass”.

One more set of commercials, and it’s time for what is normally my least favorite segment of the week - the HOH room reveal. But for shits and giggles, I’m watching tonight. “Let’s get it onnnnnnnnnnnn!’ They all head upstairs, and she screams. She has her crown, photos...and a pic of her and Nick! Holy hell, that’s funny. Plus, she got her hair dye, and as Andy says “all the things in her room insinuate she’s fifteen”, including the godawful Christina Aguilera CD.

Silliness over it’s now Spencer, Judd, Helen, and Jessie in the cockpit room. Helen is babbling about her grill. She has chosen Aaryn and Elissa, but that third spot is still up for grabs. Jessie asks why Aaryn, and gets whiney about it. Aaryn then walks in for a second, and doesn’t stay long.

Aaryn moves on to the bedroom, and reports how Jessie was whining about her being invited to the BBQ. “It was so awkward.” Jessie then walks into the room, and gives the evil eye before sitting on the bed.

We’re now back in the cockpit room, and Jessie is still whining about the BBQ. This time, it’s to McCrae and Amanda, who says not “to take it personally”. Amanda attempts to explain why it was done, but Jessie won’t let it drop. “What about my whole loyalty thing? Does that have any weight in the BBQ thing?” Jessie thinks it’s a big deal to be able to drink, and that “it’s completley an ass-kissing move”. Amanda adds in the diary room that maybe she isn’t the one to complain about loyalty. “Just sit there, shut up, and look semi-pretty”.

It’s now a bit later, and Jessie is still whining. “I’m done playing games. I’m just over the fakeness.” Amanda brings up how she tried to get people to flip the votes against her the previous night, and we get the footage of her talking to Howard and others about that very issue before Andy shuts it down. We also see Andy reporting the plan to McCrae and Amanda.

Jessie says that all she did was ask Andy if it would work. Amanda says she should go to everybody else’s face and tell them that they’re fake. “Don’t sit there like a little girl and cry abotu not being invited to a BBQ when you’re talking about flipping the house against the girl with the BBQ.” Amanda walks away, and then informs Helen, who thinks maybe she should give her that final spot. We go to commercials with a final shot of Jessie crying in the diary room.

When we come back, McCrae is now talking to Jessie about “loyalty and trust”. Jessie responds that she is tired of them “controlling the vote for the last three weeks”. McCrae says that you “have to pick your battles”, but Jessie doesn’t like to take orders.

Uh oh, here comes Amanda in her panties as McCrae continue sot lecture Jessie. Andy is then thrown out of the bus a bit, and Jessie and Amanda go back to yelling at each other about the audacity of her going to him with a plan like that. “You are acting like a not-staying person”, says Amanda. Jessie makes fun of her sitting there in her underwear, and finally says “fuck you” to her. She calls Amanda a bully, who responds that her entire game is playing a “victim”. Amanda finally says that Jessie is acting like somebody who is going home this week, and Jessie’s last words is that she’s not scared of her. Seriously, the edit of this is going way longer than it needs to be.

We’re now back in the house, and McCrae is lecturing Amanda, telling her it makes her “look bad”. He wants her to apologize, saying in the diary room she doesn’t need to take everything so personally. Candice, after all, is the target. He tells her not to act so dumb, which pisses Amanda off. “You never have my back.” Spencer interrupts them, ending the segment.

Now it is time for GinaMarie to interview the house, and her first subject is Jessie. She talks about the fight last night, and weirdly pleads that she shouldn’t be up next to Candice. Ginamarie does say that Candice is her target, but doesn’t know who to put up next to her.

It’s now the moment of truth, as GinaMarie gets to help pick the people she’s “gonna send packing”. She brings everybody in, and manages to get through the speech. The first key belongs to Aaryn, and is followed by Helen, McCrae, Judd, Amanda, Elissa, Spencer, and Andy. GinaMarie then says she put up Candice because she questions her “loyalty”, and for being a “drama queen”, “tattle tale”, and “a little bit of a rat”. Everybody starts cracking up, as she stumbles over the whole “do the best in POV” part of the speech. Holy shit, that’s funny.

She then tells Jessie that she nominated her because she’s a “flip flopper”, which is “worse in my book”. Everybody continues to giggle as she tries to explain how she runs from one side of the house to the other. She goes on and on and on before it’s finally over.

Candice says she’s “genuinely shocked by the things that came out of her tongue-ringed mouth”. She’s going to work her ass off to save herself. Spencer feels pretty good for herself, while Jessie continues to pat herself on the back for standing up to Amanda. She thinks people are going to respect her more, but Amanda says that putting her up is like putting a child into time out. I’m not so sure about that, Amanda.

So that’s it. DId you enjoy tonight’s episode? What about that fight between Amanda and Jessie? Who came out looking worse? Tell us what you think!
