Hey all, just a quickie note on this Monday. Since our podcast not a lot has gone on with Big Brother but there are a couple things to note:
- The house guests entered the house sometime on Saturday and CBS released a picture - not worth posting here, if you really want to see it take a look at my post on ilovereality.com. HGs walking into the house, arms raised, seen it before.
- Today CBS released the typical 'backyard' photo of the houseguests we have been seeing every year of late. Since we are not supposed to know yet who the four returning house guests are, they held a towel in front of their faces (see below). Most of us online are in agreement thought that it looks like (L-R) Mike Boogie, Britney, Dan and Janelle. And that is my edited picture by the way, yes with my magical (cough) 'photoshopping' skills I added their faces.
The other 'news' if we can call it that is that our podcast is doing really well - we briefly made it into the top five for audio TV & Film podcasts on iTunes which is no small feat when you look at the competition. We got that high last year on a couple of occasions too but that was much later in the season. We appreciate all of you taking the time to listen to it and especially reviewing it on iTunes if you can because that also helps with our ranking (and we lost all the old reviews since Scott had to change how it was streamed). Thanks to all of you that listen! See Scott's previous post for all the ways you can tune into it if you haven't heard it yet!
Just a quickie post - I am sure someone else will have more up shortly. 12 HGs announced. We had seen most of them already. Mike is out and some guy names Joe is in - we may or may not ever find out why.
Producers have apparently confirmed that Rachel IS NOT in this season. We speculate that means Daniele Reyes will be (she was the next option according to the rumor mill). CBS also states that 4 former HGs will be playing against each other.
So here are BIOs and pics. There are more videos out there but right now I need lunch frankly. If you have a superpass subscription they have videos with all but Joe posted. Get your live feed subscription already and go watch them you KNOW you will be getting it and the special ends in less than a week now!

What a 24 hours it has been! Late Friday night we get a leak of the Big Brother house pictures and then this afternoon something else happens on Twitter that really is making me believe the "Mentor" twist I wrote about is going to happen. Here are the most recent developments.
As I wrote here and on ilovereality.com recently, there has been increasing online 'chatter' that this season we would see four fomrer HGs return to act as Mentors. Late last night Survivor Spoiler "Missyae" released the names of the four former HGs he says will come back to mentor. Those individuals are said to be Mike Boogie (BB3/7), Rachel (BB12/13), Dan (BB10) and Janelle (BB6/7). Dan out and out denied it and Rachel claims to be in Costa Rica, Mike Boogie doesn't tweet so no luck on his whereabouts.
That leaves Janelle, who on Saturday tweeted she was off to the airport to fly to Greece for a vacation. Now this struck many of us as odd, being she has a 6 month old baby but whatever..... that will apply if she mentors BB as well so I guess she MIGHT be doing that. However, next up was a tweet you see below:
As you can see it appears she took a picture of herself at the airport. Some were curious as to why she didn't show her face, her reply was she wasn't made up. Of course many of us on Twitter were already suspicious so the questions continued. She said she would be doing her scheduled Rumor Control appearance on Monday from a hotel room in Greece - oh really??
A bit later, Twitter user @Exlenne did some snooping and discovered the "airport" picture was actually from a blog on W Magazine's website posted in 2010. After this was reveald to the twitter univers Janelle deleted the tweet from her timeline. Unfortunatley for her, myself and some other people hadn't closed our browser window and we snapped screenshots as you can see. I even tweeted a side by side picture for everyone to see.
So the fact that Janelle deleted the picture and made the comment that, "I'm not gonna let you bitches stress me out while I'm on vacation. #bigbrotherfansrnuts" leads me to believe that she was 'busted' by a fellow fan and is indeed on her way to Los Angeles to participate in Big Brother 14.
You just can't underestimate Big Brother fans and their determination to find out things before the show starts. I don't think anyone was trying to get Janelle in trouble, they just wanted the info. Her best course of action would have been to post nothing at all rather than try to make up a lie.
Am I now 100% sure of the Mentor twist? Nope, but this sure has me thinking more and more that we are going to see it.
I don't know how they got out but I can't just sit on them. A link was posted on twitter around 11pm BB time on Friday and as you can see there are 25 pictures from Media Day (which was July 22nd) of the inside of the house. You can see the media folks playing the game and yes, as we heard, Rachel can be seen in at least one picture. Enjoy - discuss - and all that.
As a quick follow up - here is the quick and dirty of what seems to have gone down.
One of the folks at We Love Big Brother announced on Friday that his media day pictures were uploaded and ready to go fo Mondays release. Someone at the site "SurvivorSucks" did some digging and found the pictures on the site - I assume but guessing the possible URLs. That person then published the links or pictures. The owner of ihatebigbrother then snagged them and posted them on twitter and I, not knowing they were already backed up, grabbed copies as well and posted them above.
Now you know the rest of the story.
As much as some people hate rumors it does give us something to talk about as we build up into a froth waiting for Big Brother 14 to begin.
A couple days ago a fake 'insider' account popped up on twitter and lasted all of 24 hours, if that. The account claimed a few things, none of which are worth repeating since it is obvious it was a fake.
However there have been a few whispers out there - and at least a few rumors posted by people that aren't totally discredited based on past 'leaks' they have provided about reality shows.
One such account on Twitter has been pushing one of the rumored 'twists' for this season of Big Brother and that is the idea of "Mentors." Names tossed about that I have seen include Dan (BB9 winner), Mike "Boogie" (BB2, BB7 Winner), Janelle (BB6, BB7) and a few others. Matt from BB12 would like you to think he is returning but it is all a ruse (sorry Matt!).
Imagine four (Four BIG Surprises have been advertised) former players acting as advisors to newbies. Now I speculated on how this might work the other day and the biggest issue I see is how do you have at least 17 HGs in the house AND 4 mentors? Even if you count the mentors as Hgs you would still need 20 total people to meet the 17+ total (assuming you have an even number of newbies per mentor). Not to get too technical here, ok maybe I am, but 3 newbies + 1 mentor x 4 = 16 HGs which is less than 17 so you would need 4 newbies + 1 mentor to get to 20 hgs. That’s a LOT of people in the house. Unless as I also speculated you eliminate a chunk of people before the show even goes live.
The idea of mentors makes total sense in that we have seen it recently in other shows. The Voice, Duets, and others have a mentor theme to them so it would be plausible that Alison Grodner and company might try this 'twist.' I for one and not crazy about the idea but I guess we could give it a shot for a season.
Remember - this is ONLY a rumor. It will be sometime next week before we know even some of the cast (they may hold some names back to tease us).
What do you think? I've seen a lot of people say they will skip this season if any former HGs return. And do you think, if they do return as mentors they will end up being allowed to also play for the $500,000?
The live feed special ends on July 11th - if you plan on getting the feeds it would be great if you would sign up via links on this site!
Hey all, over the last few years we have become more and more dependent on social sites like Twitter (I tweet as @BBGossip) and Facebook (I have an account I honestly don't use much - facebook.com/indy.mike) but that sometimes can cause problems. Specifically today when Twitter went down for a bit - many were in a panic. So please take the time right now to bookmark this site as well as ILoveReality.com. You might also notice over in the right hand column I have links to other sites if you want to check out more Big Brother content.
Enough about Twitter, now you know what to do when it fails us again, and it will.
On the Big Brother 14 front, what is new? A few things to fill you in on.
I believe some of the media gets to check out the house on Friday so expect pictures and news items in the next few days. We have also had a few commercials out and about - and in those there have been 'teases' that this season there will be more house guests than ever before - that would mean at least 17 since Big Brother 9 had 16 to start. The commercials have also implied 4 big surprises, that could mean anything so other than speculating it might mean 4 alumni return I'm not going to guess.
The cast may be revealed on July 2nd - that's a Monday and just over a week before the show begins. That tidbit of info came from a Canadian site that I consider reliable.
Other than that not a whole lot of info yet. I did just find out that, unlike previously reported, flashback will not be available on iOS devices yet again this year - thats a bummer but it still should be available on most Droid devices and even WebOS devises once the season kicks off. You will of course need the live feeds subscription to see flashback and the live feeds and the Big Brother Early Bird Special continues through July 11th so you have lots of time to sigh up - but why not do it now!
Finally, ABC's upstart show The Glass House:
I wish I had nice things to say about this show, well, I guess I can say a couple:
- The house looks really cool - lots of glass and an almost futuristic look.
- The way people enter and exit through the elevator is neat.
- The microphone necklaces are MUCH better than Big Brothers wireless mic packs - at least they seem that way when we listen on the live feeds.
There, that's three. Now here are just a few negatives:
- Only Seven hours of live feeds a week - and those seven are extremely structured with virtually no time for us to listen to the house guests have a normal conversation.
- Really bad internet presence. The official twitter account is lame and today didn't even remind us the feeds were on until 35 minutes into them - not good when you only are on one hour in the middle of the day.
- The voting is very confusing. Jacob and Alex are gone and we are now voting on who we would like to stay - from ALL of the remaining 10 house guests - even though we have no real sense of who they are and won't know much until next monday's show when we will have to pick between just two. Why vote all week and then toss out all but two votes and then only give us 12 hours to vote for those two. Do you understand? Confused? I'm not even sure I have it right and I've been TRYING to watch it and figure it out!
- The popularity contest eliminates the 'bad guys' - I have always been one that thought the original version of Big Brother had some merits because we got to vote the people out - but its very apparent that at least nowadays - the people voting are going to eliminate the 'mean' people. Alex had a chance to get back in the house since Jacob quit but America decided he should stay out - even though 'America' told him to act like an ass. Of course we didn't see the results of his actions before it was too late or we might have, given the opportunity, told him to kiss and make up and beg forgiveness.
- Only one show a week - 10pm on Mondays is probably about as buried as you can get - and as I type this most people have no clue Alex is not coming back. The house already has two new captains and have probably even had their competition and are just waiting to see which HG is sent to limbo along with the losing team captain.
- HG Twitter accounts - a GOOD idea that is wasted with really pointless tweets by the HGs - Gene has over 50 tweets now and I'm not sure I have learned anything about the gameplay.
I could go on and on but the point is this show needs some serious work. The cast itself isn't bad to me. I mean this could be the Big Brother 14 cast - they have the couple of old people and the gay guy and a couple minorities - it is very similar to Big Brother casts - but in this house and they way they are being presented to us online - I can't get into them.
Sorry ABC - I really wanted to like the show!
I'm posting this here and on ILoveReality.com as I do with a lot of my posts before the Big Brother season kicks off - at that point that site will become much less opinion and much more an update of what is going on in the house - while here of course there are others that post along with me and you are able to comment. So please check out both sites and again, bookmark them so when twitter goes down you won't be lost!
A couple news items today actually - this first one is about the ABC show Glass House. The show will finally have its first episode tonight at 10pm Eastern after we were given 1 hour of 'live feeds' on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday this past week. I hate to say it but most Big Brother fans were not too impressed and we hope that maybe tonight's show and the 4 hours of 'live feeds' after the show will get our excitement level going.
The lawsuit seems to be in limbo for the moment - on Friday the current judge said he would not stop the show from airing but CBS is welcome to pursue a lawsuit if they like.
In the actual house itself it is hard to say what is going on since we haven't seen the house guests since Thursday and that was to watch them play dodgeball and do yoga with an instructor brought into the house (yes, unlike Big Brother it seems they can have visitors that are allowed to interract other than the occasional celebrity or former HG seen in some seasons of Big Brother).
I think that Alex and Jacob are the two people up to be eliminated. It sounds like maybe the first week was a men vs women thing since America could not pick the team captains. I then assume that the men lost the competition so Alex (being my assumed male team captain) was automatically nominated and the other men picked Jacob to be up against him. In theory WE get to pick which of those two is thrown out of the house.
Got all that? See if I am right tonight.
Let me get this out of the way first. Big Brother starts July 12th. Well the show starts July 12th - the HGs will be in the house for several days beforehand as usual. This is a week later than the normal start time, perhaps CBS is trying to shorten the run. In 2007 - BB8 premired on Thursday, July 5th. Either way - July 12th is when it kicks off so I get one extra week to relax before life goes crazy!
Well - I guess maybe I don't, have you heard about ABC's new entry into the reality TV world? Glass House will start June 18th and it promises limited live streaming (which kicks off Monday, June 11th). Here is a list of the contestants:
Alex, bail bondsman (age 25) – Dallas, TX
Andrea, bookkeeper (age 31) – Valencia, CA
Apollo, poet/author (age 28) – Phoenix, AZ
Ashley, paralegal (age 30) – New Orleans, LA
Erica, cocktail waitress (age 27) – Denver, CO
Gene, stuntman (age 28) – Chicago, IL
Jacob, cook (age 28) – Coos Bay, OR
Jeffrey, receptionist (age 35) – Brooklyn, NY
Joy, nurse (age 27) – Fredericksburg, VA
Kevin, police sergeant (age 33) – Toledo, OH
Melissa, freelance journalist (age 31) – Chicago, IL
Mike, bar mitzvah DJ (age 48) – Pembroke, MA
Robin, blogger (age 43) – Washington, DC
Stephanie, scientist (age 32) – Boston, MA
I may write more later on Glass House - ABC has also promised fan interraction with Poll's - here is the FAQ on ABS's site: http://beta.abc.go.com/shows/the-glass-house/show-faq
And there you have it - discuss if you like! More on Big Brother and Glass House soon!
Hey all, no big news to report on the Big Brother scene but because this site is available in Kindle's blog subscriptions I have to post something at least once every 60 days. Yeah, I know, look it was on a whim over a year ago that I submitted it to Amazon and some people actually subscribe.
That being said here is my post that should keep the Kindle de-listing wolves at bay until perhaps we have some casting dates to report or other 'important' Big Brother news.
I've been a bit obsessed the last few days with a video someone posted on youtube that is not even a week old yet but is right on the edge of being 'viral' so I thought I would share.
Let me set the scene for you and then enjoy....
Picture a group of strangers in New York waiting at a subway station for different trains. Jessica, a musician / dancer / writer is on her way home with a couple bags of groceries and has her recently acquired ukelele on her back. A guy that goes by the name Quoom and apparently spend s alot of time playing his congas on the subway asks her for her number and when she dodges him slightly by saying he can give her his, he and his friends follow her onto her train so he can give it to her. As they are sitting on the train he then asks her if she can actually sing/play and she decides to show him with an original song of hers that he in turn plays along with. A third guy named Matt, who know neither of them pulls out his phone and records the impromptu session and one of Quoom's buddies provides a bit of narration.
Its truely one of those moments where the stars align and I only wish I had been on the train to witness it. They played a second song but alas either Matt didn't record it or he is holding out on us.
Enjoy, share, and check out Jessica's facebook and youtube pages (links after the video). I hope you are all having a wonderful 2012 and are enjoying the BB free months.
