Big Brother Over the Top Eviction 1 Recap

Hey everybody!!!

It’s been awhile since I posted an episode recap. To be honest, I just didn’t dig transcribing the idiocy that came out of the mouths of James and Nicole last season. At some point I just decided that I just didn’t feel up to recapping the network showings.

Weirdly, though, I didn’t actually HATE Big Brother 18. There was enough interesting situations that we were never short of material on the Big Brother Gossip Show. I guess overall I just have mixed feelings about the season, although everybody knows I absolutely abhor what happened in the finale.

So here we are with the first “real” episode of Big Brother Over the Top. Like everything else associated with this season, we don’t know how this is all going to work. We’ve already been told that despite previous promotional statements, Julie Chen will not be a part of the eviction.

What is going to happen instead? Is the evictee just going to walk out of the camera shot, never to be seen again? Will there be goodbye messages?

Due to the format of the season, these recaps are also going to be shorter than before. There’s reportedly going to be a look back at the entire week before the actual eviction, and there’s no real need to recap that. Most everything has been covered in previous posts, or on the podcast.

In case you haven’t paid attention, King Douchebag...I mean Monte...is the first HOH. He nominated Jason and Danielle, with Jason being the target. America’s nominee was Cornbread. After Jason won POV, spoiling Monte’s plans, Kryssie was put up in his place although Danielle made a case for Shelby. For a while the target became Kryssie, but that has changed in the last 24 hours.

Sure enough, the highlights portion is pretty much just the daily highlights edited together. I’ll admit that it’s presented in a pretty dry manner that has left some people complaining online, but I’m actually fine with it. Most importantly, it was pretty accurate and included very few non-essential moments. Now I’m going to sit back and relive the memories. See you when the real excitement starts.

Once the highlights were over, they jumped right into final pleas. First was Daniele, followed by Cornbread and Kryssie. They all pretty much just said they loved everybody and want to stay.

The first to vote is Neeley, who votes against Cornbread, as does Jason, Whitney, Morgan, Justin, Shelby, and Scott. Alex, though, decides to “create some paranoia”, and votes against Danilele. (It actually worked, as Danielle is now paranoid that her vote came from America.) Shane, though, is back on track with Cornbread.

There’s a bit of a delay while “Big Brother” tabulates the votes. Monte goes off to the diary room to get the results, and it’s announced that Cornbread has been evicted by a vote of 9-1-0. Obviously, America also picked Cornbread. He doesn’t waste any time, really, and doesn’t even hug anybody as he heads out the door. (I didn't hear it, but there are reports he said, "fuck y'all" as he walked out.)

This was pretty efficiently put on, and we had four different views of it!!! My advice, though, is for the eviction episodes put your device in quad view or you’ll miss some of the necessary audio. The voting, for example, was in camera 3, and wasn’t heard in the other cams.

Live Diary Rooms

This is a quick post, as I'm probably not going to sit through all of this right now. Shortly after the daily highlights, camera four had a message saying the live diary rooms were coming up soon.

Sure enough, right at 7:30 BBT Shane was called to the diary room. He sat down and was prompted to answer questions from a list that included his plans when he entered the house, who he's close to, and whether his friendship with Monte is real (it's not!). 

What's great is that these sessions are kept on camera 4! So we can continue to watch the feeds as we're watching the interviews. Now if we can only get the daily highlights to be featured on one cam like this.

Apparently this is going to last a couple of hours, which is why I'm going to save most of it for tomorrow.

Shane was asked more questions than the other HGs, it seems that they pulled a few to shorten the DR sessions.  Here are the seven questions asked to all of the HGs.

POV Meeting Spoiler!

In a week of firsts, we now saw how a POV meeting works. Actually, it's not that different than what has been shown on TV in the past. Jason was called to the diary room for instructions, and after he came out he called everybody in the house.

Jason then instructed everybody how to gather in the living room, which lit a light bulb in my head. I figured out why there had to be a returnee this season. With EVERYTHING happening on the feeds, and little opportunity for production to intervene, they needed somebody to help guide them through these first couple of weeks. Somebody that has been through all of the various ceremonies. Thankfully, we voted in Jason. Can you imagine Jozea leading these meetings?

Before making his "decision", Jason allowed the other two nominees to give reasons why they should be saved. Cornbread addressed the house instead of Jason, though, and said, "I'm a well-rounded player. I'm not strong in all the categories but I'm right up there with the best of them. I'm just here to make this fun and enjoy my time. I love every one of y'all."

Danielle then spoke. "I'm not expecting you to use the veto on me cause I'm expecting you to take yourself off the block." Which, of course, is exactly what he did.

Monte then stood and talked bullshit. "Y'all know this isn't easy for me. Even right now in these moments I'm still torn." He then nominates Kryssie, and claims, "I've tried to save you. I didn't want you to go home. Maybe the house will vote in your favor."

Why is this bullshit? Well, keep in mind that until the last minute, Kryssie was his choice to be up next to Jason. After Jason won POV, Kryssie became the obviously replacement, even after people like Danielle tried to talk him into putting up Shelby instead.

Justin doesn't know how this works, however. When Jason adjourned the meeting, he thought it was now time to vote. Silly man. Danielle immediately informed Kryssie that she tried to get Monte to put up Shelby. She's pissed and said, "if I'm get evicted first, I'm going out with guns blazing...my five seconds will be memorable." Although we heard that quite often last season with little followup (except Michelle), I have a feeling Kryssie may buck that trend.

One more note - stupid Monte is acting like it's an affront to his HOH status that Jason won POV. Taking himself down is apparently "bucking the system". No, douche lord, it's playing the game.

Picture Day On The Feeds!!!

A couple of days before every season premiere, CBS releases poolside shots of the entire cast in swimsuits. They're obviously able to do this because the cast is in the house for a few days before the show begins. 

Since we've been able to watch this season from the second they walked into the house, these cast shots couldn't take place until after we began viewing. Would they block the feeds for this? Would they skip it entirely?

Of course not. Today was the photo shoot, and it was live on the feeds! We even got a rare shot of non-competitiors (photographers) in the habitat!

It was great fun, especially for us who believes this is a good looking cast. We watched them primp before it happened, and then each person having individual solo shots culminating in a handful of group pictures.

Everybody seemed to enjoy themselves, except for one person. Kryssie had no desire to be a part of this, and for the most part set herself apart from everybody else. While I understand where she's coming from to an extent, this is not a good time for her to be this way as Monte is looking for a reason to make her Jason's replacement on the block.

First Veto Competition Results!

As stated in the previous post, those playing in the POV include the three nominees (Jason, Danielle, and Cornbread), plus HOH Monte, Alex and Whitney. The feeds went down for a few minutes (10 at most, maybe), before Shane read the instruction. It's a comp called "POV Vault". There's a vault in the backyard that holds the veto, and they have to find the four-digit code to unlock it. Inside the house are clues to the code. If nobody figures it out within three hours, a new code will be entered.

At the sound of a buzzer, they all ran into the house to search for the clue. Danielle was the first to attempt a code and it was incorrect. Cornbread was next, followed by another try by Danielle. They all continued to punch in numbers.

It's interesting that everybody is helping each other by comparing guesses, including Alex and Whitney, with the exception of Jason and Danielle. Obviously, nobody wants either of them to win.
Based on camera shots, the clues appear to involve the table setting, the goldfish, the dishes on the table, and the word veto spelled out on the fridge,

Frustrations grew as time went on, but finally a half hour into the game Jason won!!!! (BTW the winning number was 2449.) As Big Brother said, "the following new items were in the house - 2 dining room chairs, 4 magnet letters, 4 sunflowers, 9 goldfish = 2449!"
To say the internet is happy is an understatement. Jason is truly an online fan favorite (although I'm so-so on his actual game play) so there was a huge online sigh of relief. Jason claims that all credit must go to Da'Vonne because "I wore your socks! I didn't wear them in the comp but I put them on just before!"
Who will go up in his place? The odds are that it will be Kryssie, and if that's the case she'll undoubtedly go home.
Again, this was wonderful to watch play out live on the feeds!! What did you think?

The First Nominees And Veto Players

The game is starting to get a bit clearer now. Last night, Monte's nominations became official. He was originally going to put up Jason and Kryssie, but yesterday his view of Kryssie softened a bit so the second nominee turned out to be Danielle. 

At this point the voting was opened for America's selection. While the Big Brother Gossip Show officially chose Whitney as our desired candidate, it became pretty clear we were going to lose out this week. And we did, as the online viewers selected Cornbread as the third choice. He's playing up that it doesn't bother him, but he's not too good at hiding his emotion 

This was announced right before the POV players were chosen for later today. Alex and Whitney are the other two players.

Who do you want to see win? Fan favorite Jason? Third nominee Cornbread? Douchenozzle Monte? We'll find out in just a few hours!

BTW, it was pretty fun to be able to watch the ceremonies live and with no feed interruptions. Monte was sent to the diary room a couple of times to get instructions, and then everything happened in front of the cameras. I love this season!!!

Big Brother Gossip #701: Season Premiere

This episode was not supposed to go almost three hours. We had all decided before the broadcast that we were going to be super-concise. While there was a lot of information for us to cover, we felt that we could do it in less than two hours.
We couldn't have been more wrong, and it's primarily because Scott, Colette, and Mike are completely energized by this back to basics format. This online-only season is so full of innovation. For example, we actuallygot to watch the first week the cast was in the house. Previously, that first week was condensed to a one-hour season premiere episode. This time, we saw them from the moment they entered the house. It was quite amazing to watch them slowly get to know each other, and the various cliques that began to from a day or so later.
Besides this intriguing view, we talked about everything you need to know about the season so far. We went through the various special rules for the season, the weekly schedule, and our thoughts of this year's cast.
And what a cast this is. It's looking as if it's the best in years, and both Scott and Colette have found objects of their lust. For Colette, it's the long-hair stud muffin Shane, which will inevitably cause her to get her lute out of storage. For Scott, it's the lovely Shelby. A pure goddess is this girl. Cute, funny, and an inspiring lawyear. What a catch!
